You should totally go for it. I have the 645 + 55mm lens. It's pretty swell.

Another photo from Seoul at sunrise a little over 24 hours ago

Z abd DFA 35

Had a call from Johnson's Photopia while driving back from Heathrow. I read them the riot act, and they say that the lens is on its way back from Japan. I told them that I expect a reduction in the cost by way of service recovery, they said they would take to Ricoh about that. They also spoke to me about the Z itself with the non functioning cable release socket and flashing "PCS' occasional fault. I told them I didn't want to send the camera off if it would take months and months to get fixed. They told me that hey should be able to fix issues with the camera in the UK, and would also loan me a Z while it is being fixed.

they are going to update me tomorrow.

Sounds like very incremental progress. But I expect that is better than none. Still it'd be good to have world beating service when buying a world beating camera/lens

and Acros. I think this must have been the 150mm lens and an extension tube, hand held. I remember kicking myself for not taking the tripod that day.

Well have spoken to Ricoh on twitter who said to speak to Johnsons about reduction of the repair fee as service recovery. Was interesting as Johnsons had said that they would speak to Ricoh. I suspect that was due to different departments. Well the lens isn't due to land in the UK until a week from today, so its on a slow boat not from China but from Japan. Ricoh have told Johnsons that they are investigating how much of a discount to give, I told them that I had bought the DFA because the 28 - 45 was away and I needed the extra width and that if I resold it, I'd likely lose a fair bit of its value. Because of my personal circumstances and the fact that I am always travelling, I wouldn't want to sell it myself, but sell it to a dealer, so I'd lose what he'd take off for his margin too. So my aim is to get a good chunk off the £840 repair fee. They have confirmed that they are holding their loan body aside for me for when I come back from Germany so that they can look at mine and not be without a camera myself. They are kind of on my way up to the lake district so when I get back from Germany I'll take a trip up there and do a swap at the same time.

Anyway now for some shots.

More from the plane:

This first one is a near miss. Initially when I reviewed it, I thought that I'd moved, but the shutter speed is 1/4000 and not only that, the top of the clouds are reasonably sharp. I was shooting at the bottom part of the window to get some of the land below the cloud as well as the sky above:

I like having a window seat as even when you can't see the land, you get some interesting cloud formations:
