Sounds more like a camera/lens issue.
I'd agree, except that it happens with multiple cameras. It's happened with the 67II, 6X7 MLU, LX, and Minolta Alpha 9. The LX and 6X7 MLU were both overhauled and the 9 has very stable shutter speeds. My suspicion is that the film is highly sensitive to any exposure flaw, so a wayward light ray that throws off a meter reading and results in an underexposure could be much more apparent than with other films.

I still don't know what Lomo film stocks are, but I've read all manner of theories from special Kodak runs to off-spec bulk buys.

I've heard all of the above. Yeah that's pretty weird. I get weird stuff going on with some frequency, but my gears' not real well maintained. Also I think I leave exposed films (35mm) sitting around a little to long, and I may be getting light leaks through the cassette felt.

OK gang, this one isn't the greatest shot. I accidentally grossly underexposed a shot while in Moab a week ago, but what the heck, see what you can get. First is no edits, second is +5 exposure and playing with highlights, shadows, black & white point and noise reduction. This image ain't gonna win awards, but it sure shows off how much detail you can get from the Z, even underexposed 5 stops.

We're all going to make that mistake sometime when there's no chance to shoot again. So this is Amazing! Now, how low can you go?

I did a test when I first got the Z......5 stops underexposed. These are screen shots from LR6

....the shot as captured and then pulled up 5 stops.

We camped this weekend, only 6 Miles from home to escape the carnival in the neighborhood. I didn't take a MF camera over there but I took the D with me camping.

645Z + 120mm Macro, 3-shot stack @ f/13

A friend brought some mushrooms over from their farm, I liked how they looked so I took a photo before cooking them, and luckily I had a nice basket on hand.

Having had almost nothing but heavy rain here for weeks, except for one morning at 4.30am on the way back from accident and emergency without my camera, I decided to get out and take something that reflected the weather. This is the mid fall on the River Avich on the north side of Loch Awe. Z and 28-45mm. Tried a long exposure but it was so misty and rainy all I got was water blur on the filter even with a hat over it to prevent such things. I really wish I'd had my camera with me on the unplanned early morning trip though, the light was stunning and my girlfriend's iphone shots were absolutely stunning. But clearly the Z would have won that battle.
