A couple favorites from a very rare occurrence - me agreeing a year ago to shoot two dear friend's wedding last weekend. Exceptions are sometimes made for extraordinary people.

A photo from a remote part of Australia, the Calvert River in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Northern Territory, in Northern Australia. One of the remotest places I have visited.

Minimal post processing.

Just some shots from a local park. Taken with an original model 645, 75/2.8 lens, Kodak Portra 400 (EI 320).

There are quite a few that complain about Ektar's underexposure blue shift... I quite love it personally, especially in moments like this.

I'm also a 58'er, Chris, and well remember the halycon days when every plane was a different shape. Living just a stone's throw from Manchester airport, it was my interest in aircraft that started my interest in photography....using an old Agfa Billy Record (which I still have)

I was very much on terra firma and the tree line is just out of shot. A tentative request to leave the spectator's enclosure, and position myself by the strip, was granted so long as I didn't get in the way......so refreshing these days.
1/1 is about my limit (without the benefit of image stabilsation) although a little slower would have improved the prop blurr. Today's often seen restrictions about display height and distance from the crowd line didn't seem to be enforced so things were much closer than you'd normally see.

Here's a couple more from the same shooting position....

As there seems to be a smattering of interest in old planes then here's a few more from last weekend......all with the 67 M300/4 on the 645Z

Broussard (1950's French design for ariel observation)

Pilatus P-3 (1950's Swiss designed trainer) highlighting the need for a slower shutter speed than that of which I was capable.

OV-10 Bronco (US light attack and observation aircraft from the 60's)
OK - thanks the clarification....perspective gives the impression you were shooting from above the aircraft, and perhaps the angle of banking of the aircraft helps with the illusion. The choice of B&W suits the subject perfectly - great series of images!

After last week's aviation themed offerings, I decided to try some equine subjects and made my first visit to a local trotting course. I pitted my MF skills with the 645Z and 67-M300/4 against my Canon 1Dx and stabilised 200/2....the 1Dx won by a greater distance than any of the competitors at the meeting.

Here's a couple where I managed to get DoF region close enough to look reasonable (at web sizes). Compared to other sports with a mechanical element, it's difficult to find a shutter speed that gives the impression of movement (wheel blur) without losing the definition of the horse's reciprocating legs.

Heading down to the start

Around the final bend with 5,000 Euros beckoning for the winner......

I believe that this type of display routine was common in the UK up until a few high profile accidents in the late 70's/early 80's (I visited shows on a weekly basis). Things were then tightened up with the minimum height and display line to crowd line being increased considerably resulting in a totally different perspective along with the need to ustilise much longer lenses.

Another amazing composition with the arrangement of grass blades, droplets, bokeh, & fly. Very pleasing.

(May I ask: what did this image look like SOOC? I'm curious about your postprocessing.)
