Oh My God. The light at sunset this evening. I was stood up from the traditional position that has many tripod holes in them so they can get the birch tree on one of the golden thirds. I couldn't do this not only because someone else was there, but because my tripod was in the car. Knowing how quickly light can change, I decided against going to the car to get it even though it was less than 10 minutes away. Because the bright light of the sunset would dominate, I would have to underexpose deliberately and then in Lightroom later, grab detail from the shadows. Luckily I no longer shoot with a Canon as I had to underexpose by 3 stops to get the sunlight right without blowing the highlights. HDR? That's for lesser cameras!!

Just a shame it is an 8 hour journey from home to here...My favourite mountain in the best light possible...sigh!

Around the Shepherd again for the last time...

One from last night, a pano with the 28 - 45 (-3 EV compensation)

From this morning - I extended my stay at the hotel by one night - glad I did! I went to the popular shooting location on the banks of the Coupall and there was a workshop group of 10 who were taking it turns shooting exactly the same shot...so moved further up the A82.

A crop from the above (16 x 11)

Have ended up spending another night in Scotland but on the West Coast. The first time I saw this view was in 1994 when my younger brother and I first walked the West Highland Way for the rebuilding of our church's hall, which had caught fire (arson was suspected). The day before we had had a very wet night under canvas at Beinglas Farm. There were so many drops of water landing on our tent, I wondered whether we had set up camp underneath Beinglas Falls. The next day we walked up over Glen Malloch and we then saw this view down Strath Fillan.
It was a sunny but very brief interlude. It was raining again when we set up camp at Tyndrum. I still remember this view from the bridge, except in the interluding 22 years (!) the trees have grown so you can't see all the Crianlarich Hills (though they are all mountains most of them Munros) from the bridge anymore.

To a gearhead like me this is just about the perfect photograph.

Is that your Jag E-type FHC?

Great series!.....second to last with the light patches on B.E.M. is excellent, and the glow in the sky on the earlier ones looks almost surreal...

itshimitis - you are making me homesick. Family holidays in the western highlands (usually based in Oban); five years of university in Glasgow; cycling and Munro-bagging for weeks on end. I miss it all!

I presume you went to The Kings House?
