Love this picture. the chp allowed you through to take pictures of the bridge?
Yes. We said we were headed to McWay Falls and they said impossible due to the falling bridge at Pfeiffer Canyon. So I asked if we could at least go to Bixby to take a photo and come right back since we had driven almost 3 hrs to get there. We had to prove we had photo gear - opened the trunk to show our stuff. They let us through...

Mike! Wow! Another awesome one. I really like:

* the yin-yang curve of land and sea
* how the vanishing point of the bridge and those yellow flowers point to the sunset
* the timing of the waves on the beach
* the juxtaposition of the bridge arch & sea arch
* the voyeuristic PoV of the gap in the hillside vegetation

Overall , it feels like an intimate living room scene with all the natural elements of land and sea talking with each other around the hearth of the sunset.

P.S. 62 images! and 20,986 x 8252 pixels!!!!!! WHOA!
Thanks for looking at it so thoroughly. I really appreciate your comments. It's a tough comp but I wanted to have the opposing arches in the shot since the sea arch was lighting up. But then getting that wide diminishes the size of either element in the image. Also, the ground where I was standing was very loose red gravel so my range of motion was hindered too. I shot the pano without looking at any of the exposures and we drove on to try to find a better spot. Was pleased to see later it looked ok!

So that's your secret Mike. I'll spare myself the needless expense of a 645Z then since I don't have a top that goes down. Do you have something like a specially made captain's chair that sits up high out of the car with a custom made camera mounting system to enable the spectacular photos you shoot? I knew it, but I wouldn't have a very long season to use it around here anyway and besides we would probably be mandated to use a helmet which I'm sure would get in the way. LOL

Just had a great respite from normal winter around here but zero opportunity for me. Will have to keep coming here, usually in the middle of the night, for my photo fix of your work and others.

It is pretty sharp. I bought mine second hand in Hamburg a few years ago. It's not as heavy as it looks - a little lighter than the FA 80 - 160. The hood is huge so the lens looks really very large with it on. I mounted it on an A6000 with a fotodiox shift adapter. Quite a sight!o be true...

Am now back in Scotland - lots of rain - hoping for the forecast snow to be accurately forecast as its forecast overnight with the weather stabilising tomorrow...

Arrived safely in Bridge of Orchy, in the Scottish Highlands after a wet drive from the Lake District:

Z and FA 80 - 160

That's it Mike, rub it in.

Meanwhile, I've had frosty winter wonderland the last couple of days with a little dusting of snow each morning.

Thanks Mike! I was wishing I could go wider on that first shot to get the water feature and a some landscape but I had to work with what I've got! Dunked each foot on separate occasions trying to get a look through the viewfinder.
Live View would be nice on this system too...

I've just been throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks lately, nothing terribly artistic here.
