I'm guessing you're home by now, but the next time you're in town, you have to get into the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico. It's incredible. The flags that flew over Iwo Jima are there. Aircraft suspended from the ceiling, all sorts of awesome stuff.
ok, that sounds amazing and is right up my alley.
This trip was a total business conference(Amer. Assoc. for Cancer Research) from saturday through wednesday. As such, i packed only three primes and a bad tripod, and I had mornings only before 7am, so I had to stay pretty close and could only go to outdoor places, since it was usually 6am.

but next time!

Well like I said it's a great shot!

I've started playing with Affinnity Photo as a potential Photoshop replacement and it has a nice focus stacking feature I have been checking out lately. It seems to work well and that alone is probably worth the price!
that sounds cool. when i focus stack, i usually do about 2 or 3 slices since i am also often doing exposure bracketing AND a pano...yeah, done that, lol. I just feed 'em into PS and am happy with it - usually - but sometimes the blending of stacks is a little sloppy - guessing you may be getting better results with that.

" 'Ere," said the gull's wife to her husband. "What's he up to?" "Don't know. Photographers like him are always up at silly hours. Shall we land on the water to stop it being calm? They love it when we do that..."

I still only have CS5 so there is no stacking in my Photoshop so I cannot compare directly. I'm a CC holdout!
But for $50 to own Affinity outright and the couple of stacks I have fed it coming out well is very encouraging.

A different kind of bird half way home. I believe it is a buzzard. There were 6 or 7 of them riding the jet stream and looking for food...

Thanks guys, am working on more of them. Before the skies became picture postcard clear, there were some nice slivers in the clouds that gave some nice shafts of light.

Here's a focus stack that worked pretty well although I had another one where it didn't do as well of a similar shot. Not sure why on that one. Still trying to find my way around Affinity but this is a cool feature when it works right.

Storm that moved through the Ocean City, MD area a couple of days ago. Shot right at sunset. Lot of wind and rain, but no serious damage.

It looks like a Red Kite. Nice shot of it. Nice dramatic lighting on the lake shots.
