I actually never quite mastered "sunny 16", simple though [I]it seems.
You just need to compare measured exposures to the Sunny 16 and make adjustments to the rule for your geographical location as well as formulate some of your own rules. For my high latitude, for example, I need to basically shoot the Sunny 11 rule most the time and only Sunny 16 when its really summer. Similarly follow the rule one stop for diffused shadows and 2 for no shadows, etc. Just measure these conditions with a light meter, compare to the Sunny 16 and then make a rule you can remember.

Here is an example of my rule for time of day. When the Sun is near the horizon, add two stops which I did in this picture plus added one stop for time of year. It seemed to work good enough I guess.

As I'm in the Scottish highlands, I decided t pop up to Ffordes, and picked up a used FA 150 f/2.8, on my way back hung around Loch Oich as the sun descended...

Z and FA 150 f/2.8

1.

2.

3.

4. FA 45 - 85

5. Slightly chichèd shot as everyone seems to do this, but this is the first time I have been here without a minibus full of workshop attendees taking it turns to take the same shot... DA28 - 45

6. As I came down from Shooting on Glencoe ski area, having fallen on getting off the lift, my right thumb hurts a bit, but am fine otherwise as is all my camera gear, noticed a heron looking for food, didn't have time to put on a longer lens, but I think it added to the shots FA45 - 85

7.

8.

More later when I can get internet connection!

I've been seeing some of that too. It seems to come and go and I suspect it's worse when the site is busy.

Great set of photos BTW!

I'm digging #6 and #7. Adding life to the shot also adds much more interest to the foreground.

I get it on a desktop with a wired connection, but I suspect a spotty connection somewhere may be the culprit.

It's always slow when this happens for me. I think you submit a post, it gets written to the database, and the acknowledgement never makes it back to the application so it tries again, thinking the request didn't get through when it actually did.

Sorry I couldn’t meet up this time. But if/when you come back this way let me know. Number 4 is a cracker of a shot. I know the location exactly and have always thought ‘ when the loch is still and the light is right ........’. But you nailed it.

Thanks andy. I drove past it initially trying to make the coast knowing that the light was likely to be good as there was a good forecast for the following day. I knew that with the clouds disappearing there was little chance of me getting even to Fort William before the light disappeared. So Turned around, grabbed the shots of the trees catching the last rays of the sun and then headed for Bridge of Oich car park and grabbed everything I needed out. My iPhone misled me into thinking it was Loch Lochy but is of course Loch Oich. Loch Lochy was also completely still as I passed it but it was too late by then. I'll definitely be up again. I'll be sure to drop you a line.

The light was really good at 8 this morning. It completely fooled the Z's AWB. Something that doesn't happen very often.

T-Max 100 120

My first edit of my first roll of Kodak T-Max 100 120. Does anyone know the "back story" of
why this film was out of production the past couple years? Good to have it back!
