Boris---another lovely shot. Your images have a serene, quiet quality that is reminding me of some early color photography done in Europe and Russia. Is this intended?

A Few Days Prior To The Fire

I shot this a few days prior to the massive fire that swept through Malibu. I will go back and see if these homes survived.
Perhaps someone here will know.

We had a really beautiful autumn this year here in Switzerland. These pictures were all made on the same foggy and rainy morning in the woods.

Here are some images from the area of Jackson and North Conway NH, USA attached in sets so the messages are not too unwieldy. These were taken in early September, scanned in early October, and finally filtered. None are modified by post processing. JPGs are those generated by the Noritsu scanner used by my developer. Most photos in this group were taken with the 645N using Portra 160. I think some images at the N. Conway train station used Ektar. Images are not in temporal order.

Dominating these images are shots related to a scenic railroad trip from N. Conway, NH to Crawford, NH, high and to the west of Crawford Notch. This railroad has been in existence since at least the US Civil War (War between the States, War of Southern Rebellion, War of Northern Aggression, etc.). The railroad line provides trips in various directions out of North Conway. Ours included a very nice luncheon.

A view down Crawford Notch near the beginning of the return trip. Road is centered, track is to the right.
Two views of steep slopes (north side of Notch)
These shots are through the train car window

I haven't used my 645 in ages, but here's a shot with the SMC-A 75mm F2.8.

Trying out 2X converter

Here are a few shots with the Pentax-A 2X Rear Converter picked up in very nice condition from Used Photo Pro for their Black Friday price of $42.50. The 2X results in a two-stop loss, but with outside photography at least the 645Z, with its high ISO capabilities, hardly seems to notice. This A version converter preserves all the A lens capabilities. The test shots are taken with the sometimes-maligned 645-A 200mm, and the results to me are encouraging. I will welcome any thoughts or comments anyone may care to offer on the use of a rear converter with the 645-Z.

KIT: Pentax 645Z with Pentax-A 645 200mm and Pentax-A 645 2X Rear Converter.
