Last night's Sonoma Coast plans were dashed due to fog, but Plan B was this covered bridge along the Stanislaus River.

A morning outing to try out the loan camera I have received from C.R. Kennedy (while mine is off in the Philippines being repaired after it got damaged in transit on its way back from a shutter replacement).

Barrenjoey Head viewed from West Head (in the outskirts of Sydney).

And slightly later, this time with 150mm FA

A pretty good Plan B, Mike. Lovely, as usual.

Excellent images. Number 2 has wonderful colors. The city skyline pano evokes magic. All are expertly captured. Glad you got a loaner Z to use.

Curious if you notice any functional "personality" difference between the two Z?

Thanks,
barondla

Many thanks. As far as I can see, no difference really between results from this camera and mine. I did update the firmware to the latest version before using it, which might have helped!

Stunning work, Ed, and I believe you have proven that it's the photographer, not the gear, or something like that.
Love those 400mm tele shots and the amazing color of barrenjoey head.

Thank you, my friend - but nothing in the league of your recent astro work. Very envious of those!

As a matter of interest, why was the bridge shot covert? Do security not like people wandering around near it for some reason? Or something else?

Ed, I'm glad to see you are back with a camera in hand and really appreciate your postings and pictures.

Yesterday I tried to post a picture of the Eclipse on Sunday as seen here in Hong Kong, but finger trouble got in the way, and in the end I just deleted it. So I'll try again.

Used the 645z with FA 400mm with ND filter and polarizer (just to add more darkening I only have one ND filter). The cloud cover here in Hong Kong was patchy but with the eclipse it was trying its best to cover the sun totally. Only got a few glimpses. The pic is a bit over saturated but was fun to do and seen as a false color pic it does show the different layers of clouds involved. Looks like it could belong in a movie scene with Moses vs God.

Yesterday afternoon I got the sunset from behind a mountain (second pic). 645z with FA 45-85

Couple of sunset pics from last Thursday evening in the Uinta mountains. 645z and DFA55. Continue to be impressed with the ability of the 645z to recover details in the shadows.

It's a national landmark with patrolling ranger(s). They clear everyone out at sunset and we needed to navigate some rough terrain without the use of headlamps. Once I knew i had my 2 shots in the bag, i didn't feel bad blasting my LED panel a few times to check out the river bank and surroundings. A lovely place.

Cap-de-la-Madeleine Basilica, 645Z + FA 33-55 mm f/4.5 AL, 10 sec @ f/11 & 33 mm.

Very good rendering of the interior of this Church. Tripod-mounted 645Z + FA 33-55 mm f/4.5 set @ 33 mm FL and f/11 with an exposure time of 10 seconds.

645Z + 645 FA 33-55 mm f/4.5 AL, 2.5 sec @ f/5.6 and 36 mm FL.

Surprisingly, f/5.6 proved to be the best aperture for this vertical picture. I made 6 different exposures, from 2,5 seconds @ f/5.6 to 30 seconds @ f/32 and this picture came out best, probably because of the shorter exposure time.

Nice shots. Was this an assignment? I wonder that they let you use a tripod inside.

I had my tripod blessed by a priest before setting it up in station (just kidding). I always ask for permission and I never make a fuss using camera support. I take pictures of churches and of all historical buildings I can access, just for my own pleasure. Architectural pictures reveal the optical limits of the lenses you are using.
