hey thanks.
in other news, my DFA 25 fell apart and dropped pieces in the dirt (rear plate and contact ball bearings, screws, etc). I scooped up what I could and drove home, haven't had the heart to look closely yet.
ugh.
Whoa! "Fell apart"???????

Hi,

Ouch. Lens in bits and pieces. I hate when that happens.

Long ago, I had a brand-new Nikon 300/4 which was the super-duper ED glass unit when it first came out. Took it to Watkins Glen (road racing) and....out there for my very first time shooting it....and....Wham!

An errant lug nut came flying in like a lens seeking missile and...took out the entire front element.

Also gave me a nice black eye.

Insurance was unwilling to pay anything since I had deliberately taken the lens into a hazardous environment. That ended my having insurance on photo equipment. Why pay them if they won't pay me.

It was back to the Old 300mm and that one is still around. Of course an errant lug nut never found that one. It had to come straight for the new one.

But, that was the only truly bad thing to happen to one of my lenses going back to 1979.

I hope the 25 in question is repairable.

Stan

One might hope that the tiny parts (such as the contacts and their springs) would be the same over the years, and that any 645 lens assembly out of service due to some other damage could be scavenged for any parts that didn't make it home.

Mike: When your period of mourning is over and you have filtered the parts from the dirt, would you mind providing us sympathizers a photo of what the back-end collection of components looks like?

thx everyone. i suspect some vibration caused screws to back out. This has happened to my FA77 and most recently an FA31(sitting here dead as well). I have not even unpacked my truck yet, but as soon as i have some time, i'll have a look.

Blueberries, Pentax K3 + 645 Auto Bellows + 645 A 75 mm f/2.8, 1/10 sec @ f/32.

I hope this counts as Medium-format photography. The 645Z is just a big K3, after all.

Artichoke flower. An almost unbelievable glowy violet color. Even the 645z and 120 macro can barely do justice.

This is a super cool looking image that veers towards abstract, and I like it. Wow, the K3 looks tiny on the 645 bellows. Still want to see the 645 on this bellows.
Thanks,

Mike, this is a fantastic picture. Words that came to mind when I saw this are: "awe", "gothic" (in a good way); "Game of Thrones type of mysticism"

Thanks for the inspiration and raising the bar....
