Both shots are great tuco! Very well done, especially with the narrative! Makes me appreciate it even more as I've been in similar sticky perches

LSD: the Secret Emulsion Layer in Velvia

Wonderful shot MetaD! Kenosha Pass is a beautiful area! I think your photo has excellent color, very natural and perfect... not at all over saturated as is popular with digital right now. That's what tuco was saying - it was a great compliment to you and your photo!

Mike
Colorado has more rugged areas, but Kenosha Pass is very representative of Colorado Rockies, much of which is forested and modest rather than jagged. Last year the Aspen were not very vibrant; this year has been better, but I'm not sure I can get out to do another set of photos on Aspen. Cottonwoods, oaks, grasses, sage and mountain shrubberies will be good well into October, and they are actually a bit more interesting to me, as everyone does Aspen.

Yeah, I know what you mean about over-saturation, also so much of the HDR stuff.

What I really like about Velvia is that I'm getting good color, but not blowing out my highlights as easily. When using my D90 on red or white flowers, I have to really crank the exposure compensation down, and still get blown highlights. I'm working on taming waterfalls and clouds to stay within gamut on Velvia.

I have done some sensia work, but haven't been quite as happy with the colors.

Very nice shot - it looks so crisp.

Cheers,

Good first results! So, what film and developer did you use?

I've used that 18min and dilution with rodinal and Acros too on several occasions. I'm finding the negatives come out pretty dense. I'm thinking of trying a test roll out at EI400 with that development scheme.

I don't have that problem, but I also don't have a lot of experience either. I agitated once a min for 3 min then once every 3 min after that (as per the massive chart). Although I may have to wash them again, have got a couple of yellow splotches on 2 frames and they never cleared as well as the second roll I stood for a hour.
