Testing how the 645 meters at night in AV.

Pentax 645, 75mm f/2.8, Kodak VHC. Somewhere in the 8 to 15 second range.

I did the same and I was really satisfied with the 645

645 A-45mm and A-75mm Fuji Across

I guess there's something in the air. I too recently went out to check how accurate the light meter in the P645 was at night. Turns out that it's very accurate. From 1/6 to 30" - spot on.

(Side note: the coolest part of the P645 is the metadata captured on the negative. Saves me a ton of time - when I shoot 35mm I have to write down all my settings. Using the P645 is like cheating!)

Film was Tmax100. Dev was Tmax Dev 1:4. Both with the 75mm 'A'.

That's interesting. Does the P645 have built-in reciprocity correction for different brands of film in its light meter?

100TMX at a metered 30 seconds would need an approximate 2/3 stop of additional light applied to the exposure (could be ignored). But 400TX would need about 3 stops (=200 sec), for example. So in the case of 100TMX you were getting by with the latitude of the film up to 30 seconds.

Being fairly new at all this film business and very, very new at this long exposure stuff I guess I just got lucky that I chose a film that doesn't need much correction (up to 30").

I'm just impressed that I pressed the shutter release 16 times and got 16 useable negatives. (Hell, I'm impressed when ANYTHING gets recorded on the film!)

I'll have to read up on reciprocity failure and take that into consideration for my next outing. I'm planning on taking the same set of shots (with the same settings) with Ektar 100 in the near future...

Your results look great.

You can also shoot 100 Acros if you don't want to worry about reciprocity either. It is very resistant and per their data sheet only needs 1/2 stop of additional light after a metered 120 seconds. And note in the film's data sheet if they recommend adjusting your development time for long exposures too. Nothing was listed for the T-Max films but Plus-X and Tri-X does, for example.

To find reciprocity corrections, look up the data sheet for the film. Comprehensive brands have graphs or tables. But color films seem to rarely list this info. I didn't find any on the new Ektar 100 when I gave it a try. But I did find some corrections someone posted who did a reciprocity test. And he also noted color shifts when it started getting long for that film.

Lovely night shots...

Recently I had a go at shooting some slide, Fuji Provia 100F.
The light was harsh at this car show, but I am rather impressed by the colour and low grain on this film compared to my usual CN and B&W. I think I will find myself shooting quite a lot more.

Is that a Falcon in the last shot? Looks like a 4 door Mustang. Definitely not a car we have here.

Rescan to convert it over. The Astoria Column in Oregon is patterned after the Trajan's Column in Rome, Italy.

Pentax 6x7, 45mm, Pentax O2 Orange Filter, 320TXP, PMK Pyro

Yes the last shot is a falcon. Now that you mention it, I can see the resemblance to some of the mustangs. This particular model is late 80s I believe. I don't know enough about fords to give you any more details though, but can look it up.

Really these are just "straight out of the scanner" so to speak, very little done.

The column does a good job at paying respects to the 'original' too.
Have you ever been to Rome? I think it would be a dream location for any photographer with an interest in architecture and black& white.
