With the gear I bought about a year ago I got a Takumar 35/4 Fish-Eye, but I've hardly used it. Last Saturday I decided it would be nice to try it for street photography. I went to Arnheim and used it with one roll of Kodak Ektar 100, also new to me. I never used colour negative film with the 6x7, so that was another thing to get used to. Here some of the results... I am not completely satisfied.....

Thanks all!

The film is Tri-X @ 400, developed in Fomadon R09 ("Rodinal", sort of) 1:60 for 13 minutes at 20°C. Agitation every two minutes. Scanned with Epson V700 as 48 bit color positive and then processed manually in Photoshop, using only the blue channel.
Thanks! Enjoy T-Max 400 for building shot.

In my monitor I look colour very pale (second shot): overexposed or develop?

Second shot: underexposed, too blue, tried to recover, but could only do a half job. Fill light added in LR3, resulting in this. Agree with the comment, it's like a 70-s shot, isn't it? That is why I am not satisfied....

The 70's look works with the Fisheye effect Rense, I like it but all 3 are excellent #3 in particular is a great view

It certainly makes Arnhem look more pretty than I remembered it to be. Which is disheveled. Great lens to play around with.

Recently I had a quick go at some fireworks shooting with Provia 100F film.
I missed the angle a bit, but I'm happy that exposure seemed to come out OK.
I ignored reciprocacy (sp?) simply because I have no knowledge of it at this stage, nor how this particular film would react. Exposed similar to what I did on digital.

Pentax 67, SMC 105/2.4 @F16, Provia 100F @ 20seconds

Similar digital shot is here, if you are curious.

cheers,
Jason
Nice vivid colour(s) ! The digital is nice too !

Nice fisheye shots, Rense !

try the new portra 400 (not the older vc etc ones) Rense it has an insane amount of exposure latitude from everything I've read. it's on my list for the next order I make with Freestyle
the Ektar is great but at 100 i would probably go Slide like ektachrome or Provia as I would be chasing the finer grains. I think 400 is more suited to street shooting in a lot of cases

Tuco and Jason, thanks for the kind words.
That is one of the best fireworks shots I've seen. Congrats.

That fisheye has intrigued me, but I've never yielded to temptation... You've got a good start there I think, as it must be a challenge to work with, taking some experimenting and experience. Have fun!

I suppose it's time for me to post something. How about tandem seagulls.....the third MF photo I took. I prefer the posing and expressions in my first MF photo, but there was a stupid building behind the birds. I suppose I was too enamored with the 5 pound camera to worry about composition.
