Pentax 67II, first two with 75/4.5 and the last one with 105/2.4...

They are all from the same film, but the middle one is PP:d very hard to get a dark sky, so that's why it's very much grainier. This was Ilford HP5+ @ 320, which was a bad choice. The scanner has so much DR that I had to stretch the flat files very much, and thus grain actually gets worse than if I expose at 800 and develop longer!

I gotta say, I think the grain makes that second shot. It adds to the gritty/dirty feel of the smoke stacks. One of the reasons I like HP5+ so much, besides it's great tonality, is that it's so incredibly sharp. Although maybe not always desired, that grain is part of that sharpness.



...As a bit of an aside, HP5+ is great in Pyrocat and probably other tanning developers too. You can really see a physical relief in the emulsion when held at an angle to light. The scanner picks this relief up and it creates very distinct edges.

Yes, in PMK HP5+ stains nicely. I done a few on 4x5 sheet. But now I'm going to look for that so-called relief when I get home.

Yes, in PMK HP5+ stains nicely. I done a few on 4x5 sheet. But now I'm going to look for that so-called relief when I get home.

Yeah it stains great. Very little base stain too. Compare the emulsion side to TMY or Tri-X, for example. It may be because the emulsion is thicker, I'm not sure.

Well as I said in a previous post, after this trip, 645 has become my minimum requirement for traveling. If I did not have such a nice collection of SMC-K I would probably sell all my 35mm equipment.

Just now developed this roll taken last summer when I posted a BW film version taken at the time. And I still have another roll to do while the chemicals are fresh that was also shot some time ago.

So finally after sitting on things for a while i'm getting around to doing my own processing again
Ilfodsol 3 1+9 Rollei REtro 100 (original Formulation) really bowed, been flattening for a couple of days now still not scanning great it was so much easier to just hand someone else the film, but after they screwed up a couple of rolls i decided i could screw them up myself

I thought I'd seen this scene before! There's something really clear and fresh about the colours that I like in this photo, quite apart from the wonderful framing. Though I also guess this photo tells me the Planar CF T* 80mm has five blades

Thanks. There are two sets of blades on these lenses. The back set stops down to the aperture and forms a distinctive pentagon. The front set, also five, is the shutter.

Bold, it looks like you might have got the camera wet. Well, the advantage of DIY is you don't have to wait and you can use other developers than what a lab would use. I can't use those curly films. And dare I say they seem more trouble than they are worth.
