Took my 645n/75A for a walk along the lake. Found this beautiful classic yacht under the Freeway Bridge. Acros, Rodinal 1/100, 18 min. Just scanned, be a few days before I get into the dark with and see how it prints.

That is a lovely shot. I like the effect overall.

I generally use Rodinal for Acros as well, but at 1:50. I'm curious, though, whether it is the scan or my screen, but the sky seems to have a lot more grain in it than I am used to seeing from Acros in Rodinal on medium format. From my experience, in a scan of a medium format negative reduced for posting here, it would be much harder to see grain.

Just as an example of grain I would expect in the sky on Acros, this is a crop from Acros in Rodinal on 35mm:

The apparent grain in the sky area is probably due to the PP to get the clouds to appear as ominous in the shot as thy did to the eye. This was my first time scanning Acros so I probably have some tinkering to do to my workflow.

Alright, I've now developed my first roll of color film at home! Expired Fuji Reala 100 in P67II, processed with the Tetenal C-41 kit gave me this...

For some bloody reason Photobucket refuses to let me upload some pictures, so these are the only ones that work for now.

Makten, nice results from your home C-41 development. Are you going to continue developing your own colour film? I still have access to several places that develop C-41 so I'm happy to let others do the work for now.

Thanks! Yes, I'm at least going to use the kit for the 12-16 rolls it's supposed to last for. The only reason for developing at home is that I want to learn new things and be part of the whole process from taking the image to the final result. It might also be a bit cheaper when I already got the rest of the gear. But I need to figure out how to hold the temperature steady, because I'm doing this in a simple Paterson tank and a water bath.

I can tell you that it was a PITA, but obviously it worked.

Back in the day (like 20 years ago), I did a lot of C41, and it is good to know home processing is still an option. When I started, I used a water bath in an old insulated ice chest. I later kept the temperature by a flowing water bath with a temperature controlled faucet. I seem to recall having good results even when I missed the temp a bit. It was far more forgiving than E6.

I'm still new at scanning b&w film. Any suggestions with that are appreciated! I'm using a Nikon Coolscan 8000.

You just need an yellow or orange filter

When I got back into B&W film a couple of years ago, I forgot about that at first. It is amazing the improvement digging out my yellow and red filters made in my shots.

This was with an orange filter (O2.) The overcast was so heavy that pretty much all the light was blue, not a lot to differentiate. The boat was moving fairly fast so I only got three shots. This was my first foll of Acros, so I probably will have to change delveloper dilutions or times or agitation.
