Nice Tuco! But the shadows looks a bit wierd, don't they? Maybe there's no reason to overexpose that one stop.

Absolutely stunning colours, Makten, and stunning bokeh.

I love my 645D but I feel that my 67II and its superb lenses still do a better job on the intensity of my images. I can't really explain it. But your pictures do remind me of that.
I gotta start developing colour.

Very inspiring, Makten, very inspiring.

ps. how come you could enter the container harbour of (was it Stockholm?)? Don't you need permission. In Hamburg, you do.

Thanks!

For "intensity", I think many people forget how much decent PP does to the impression of image quality, sharpness, colors and everything else. The 645D is probably superior in most respects even compared to 6x7 film. But of course the "look" will be somewhat different. I get almost as good results from my D700 with Zeiss glass as with the 67II.
The bokeh of the 90 is good, but the 105 is better in my opinion. The 90 needs to be shot at quite close distances to get rid of the harshness, if you're not willing to stop down to f/4 where it smoothens considerably.

But yes, developing color at home is very rewarding, and I like the thought of doing it all myself.

I was actually outside the container harbour (note the fence in the second shot), but there are areas around it with nice industrial scenes too. I like to sneak around where others don't.
I often just walk through any open gate, ignoring "no trespassing" signs. If someone comes, I'll just tell them I didn't notice the signs at that I'll leave immediately. Works fine.

difference to our Hamburg container harbour is: you get brutally thrown out but first they force you to delete the images or destroy the film you just made. If you don't "cooperate", they get the police to solve the problem. Seriously. Very strict.

Beats me. I've been shooting BW too long and not good at adjusting color anymore. EI200 is per Kodak's recommend daylight exposure table in their data sheet (f4, 1/500 in shade) but I'm thinking too I should meter for 400 instead. I also don't get quite what I'm looking at when I export to jpeg from the ProPhoto RGB color space it was scanned at.

Okay, time for some sight-seeing pictures of Fort Casey.

Fort Casey was part of a three-fort defense system built by the U.S. Army to protect the entrance to Puget Sound at the start of the 1900's. It had 10-inch (254mm) disappearing guns capable of a 10 mile (16km) range. But soon airplanes and ships with greater range made the disappearing guns obsolete. The fort was eventually decommissioned but reactivated during WWII as a training center. Its guns were melted down as part of a scrap drive. In the 1950's it became a state park and similar guns were brought in from the Philippines and installed for display.

Thanks you guys. I'm still trying to nail down the base color of this film since there is no profile for it in the scanning software.

@Makten, great stuff you've been posting. Some of those shots make me feel like I could reach out and touch whatever is in them.

@Tuco, +1 on that second shot. Great composition.

Here's another shot from the one roll of Ektar I shot.

@Tuco: Gotta agree with others on that one. Both of your shots are nice but that second one really is special. Lovely picture.

@Makten: Great use of colours and patterns in yours. Very inspiring stuff.

Ok, I've just been through my first roll of film in the 645N. But... It started rewinding right after the 16th frame. With a roll of 220 in a 220 insert. Any idea how that could have happened? I've googled and googled but either I haven't used the right keywords or the info isn't to be found anywhere by my "friend". I'd like to be sure this isn't gonna happen again before I load the next roll.

As for the pictures, I'll try and have the film developed asap. Can't wait to see the results.

Any chance that the insert was modified to take 120 film? There's thread on it here:
Pentax 645N - 120 film in 220 magazine?
It shows pics of the modification, so you can check.

Silly me... I found out about this forum by looking for info about using 120 film in a 220 insert and decided based on what I had read that I didn't want to do it but it didn't cross my mind that maybe the previous owner had done the modification... Based on those pictures, it does look like the insert has been modified.

Thx for the input. Next time I'll try and think a bit more...

And thanks for the link. The modification is both easier and less problematic than I thought it was. Great to know
