I'm loving the 55mm shots. I have plenty here that I need to develop and process!

I'm really realising more and more how many different variables there are with film, when you are developing it and scanning. Possibly similar to you, Martin, I shot a roll of 100Tmax a while back and really didn't like it. But now I think my development was lacking and the light wasn't very good. Of course I probably did an average job of the scanning too! Always lots to learn.

I guess the less different developers you use, the more you learn about your particular developer and how it responds to the films you use. I have been trying to stick with Tmax developer to start with, but I also have Ilford ID-11 and Diafine to try at some stage. Don't want to get too lost though.

Depending on the subject, sometimes I don't like 3:2 either :P

Tasty bit of film
Beautiful and plentiful dark tones.

That's because we probably want different effects. So whether I like a film or not depends on if it gets me where I want or not, after post processing.

Tmax 400 in R09 seem to give more than ISO 400, so I'll try to expose a bit lower next time. The "hump" in the histogram for middle gray is a bit too far to the right with the recommended development time (8 minutes in 1:40), without giving very dense negatives.
You might wonder why I use R09 instead of Tmax developer or anything else, but that's just because I liked it very much with Tri-X, and I don't want to use several different developers, plus that R09 won't degrade as fast over time.

Absolutely. Just to illustrate that because you use one film you are not stuck with the same results. I think that I have read that you get 500 in Rodinal.
I used to do a lot of Rodinal in Stand Development but I have settled for Pyrocat.

Cheers,

Luc

Am I feeling brave ? My first MF shot up for perusal

A sunny day in Frankfurt with some clouds to give some interest. Probably a bit of a snapshot and not so very original, but I like it! Whether I am right to like it is another matter. The symmetry attracted me to take this shot. Shot with a circular polariser which lengthened the speed and no tripod with me on a short business trip, 645D 35mm 1/60 @ f/19 ISO 400

Are you sure, are you really, really sure....

Not as tasty but in the same spirit. Last time I was through Heathrow there was a promotion event for Havana Club rum (which I am already a supporter).

Note that not only I was not tackled down by a burly security guard from the Projects but the fine young lady even took me out for a dance. She realized that a guy hanging around with a Pentax LX had to be really cool and my wife which usually my exclusive dance partner just said "enjoy".

Cheers,

Luc

You have to be careful at airports after all. But where is the picture of yourself dancing?

...
Rense, love your work. Your last few photos seem to have an amazing "dimensionality" to them. Also known as a "3d effect". Good tones in the Brazilians shot too.

cheers

I like the Brazilians better too. But why convert color slide film to BW?

The obligatory brick wall when you have an new wide angle lens. It was a little softer on the edges. The geometry looked okay. Those not familiar with the 50mm FLE, it has two focus rings. You set the floating element to one of four focus ranges on one ring and perform your final focus as usual. Anything beyond 4 meters focus is one range. Closer and you'll have to focus to determine distance, set the FLE and focus again.
