Comparing 4x5 sheet versus 6x17. I am not sure how a Chinese 6x17 back works for the spacing and how many you can get out of a roll.

You still get only a 13cm instead of 17cm.
Not very relevant in the grand scope of things.

Absent for a few months, but I've been enjoying scanning through this folder periodically. Entertaining thread with some fine pics... Tempted to get a 645D but didn't. Here are a couple of recent shots with P67 lenses. "Silver & Gold" with the 45 f/4 and "Toxic Orange" with the 100 Macro.

I confirmed two theories:

1. cannot take large format photos with a dog and a wife waiting
2. if it not staying permanently in your bag, you will forget to take it - the meter in that case (so now I have al old Pilot in a pocket of that bag ad vitam)

You got that right. I rarely get pictures I like when I'm with someone who is just tagging along and does not have the patients it takes for shooting a view camera. You might also experience other mistakes like forgetting to close the lens aperture after focusing and then pull out the dark slide. Or not rotate the dark slide to indicate an exposed shot. Things like that I encounter when I take my 4x5 out after not shooting it for a long time. You could literally make a list of 101 ways to screw up a LF shot.

All shot with 645N + A 75mm + Kodak Ektar. If you get your film developed by some shop, are they supposed to do prints on 4x6? I got some stuff cut out of one of my images that sort of upset me ... I realize that scanning + editing is a lot more time consuming than ordering CDs even if it is a good deal more expensive.

Damn, I love Ektar's colors.

Not very succesful so far out of 6 screw-up 4 for unknown reasons, one out of focus (which actually OK from an ambience point of view) and one acceptable.

Hey Luc, I think I am going to enjoy watching your progress with the LF.
That second shot has some pretty cool depth of field.

Even with formats that allow for quick shooting, I get what you guys mean about having company around. I think the decline in my keeper level is 50% :P I can imagine it's a struggle with LF.

Thanks. After working mostly on B&W for a while, going back to do a colour shot has me pleasantly surprised at the apparent high detail and low grain.

Nice. Did you have to hike far for the shot?

A couple of weekends ago I hiked a mountain that was high and steep. I decided to take my dSLR to cut the weight down. I reached a spot and pulled it out to take a shot. But I forgot to put the memory card back in it. Talk about carrying dead weight. Stupid. For that trip, I would rather have remembered to bring the memory card and forgot the camera instead.
