I just received my first Pentax lens today! It is the FA 120 mm f/4 macro. It works great in the 645D.

A couple of shots with the family. Harsh summer light at 11:00 and deeper shadows in the woods.

The contrasting trees in the second one is a great concept. For the longest time I didn't notice those people on the suspension bridge.

They are my young cousin and my Godson.

Okay, this should be the last one if you're tired of these dead trees. The sun was finally starting to break through on this foggy morning. I have to get use to a rangefinder. I took at least one or two shots per roll with the lens cap on. And I'm not use to turning off a power switch either.

Kodak 100TMX, PMK Pyro, Pentax Digital Spotmeter

Did you use an ND gradient filter for this, tuco? Or was it THAT foggy that it didn't matter?
Great shot, again.

Thanks. No grad ND filter but a little gradient in post to help the sun show more.

The Bessa II really impresses me and gives me serious camera-lust. It is on my windfall-camera list, definitely, and quite possibly would beat out a digital SLR - whether the latest Pentax or a full frame job.

Here's something from a 1920's No. 1 Pocket Kodak Series II, Kodak Anastigmat f/7.7 108mm lens, Kodak Portra 160NC

Really, I ought to have used a tripod; while the lens isn't as good as some camera shake doesn't help.

No, I'm not into landscapes at all. There's really nothing around here that could make me start shooting landscapes. But I have at least one frame of "urban landscape" stuff close to infinity at f/16 or f/22 on the roll that's in the camera right now. Three frames left before development.

In the meantime, these are from the first roll with the Bessa III...

There's a little bit of barrel distortion (easily corrected with +2 in PS) and the very corners arent sharp until f/11 or so with the 6x7 mode. But I'm surprised that the folding mechanism holds the lens parallel enough to the film plane. There's really no tilted plane of focus at all to be seen, even wide open. Vignetting is also very low straight from f/3.5. The image circle is probably rather large, but with low peripheral sharpness and/or with a curved field of focus.

The character of the lens is "classical" with a larger DOF than expected due to spherical aberration. But also, the bokeh is very nice and smooth because of this. I like it very much and it reminds me of the Voigtländer 40/2 on the 24x36 format, which was my favourite lens for a long time (before I caught the Zeiss disease).

Surly there must be a dead tree standing around someplace?

I must say really impressive results.

I'm really looking for them trees! Usually, I take my bike for a long ride out in the Stockholm suburbs, so there's a lot to be found. But not nature of interest, even though the whole place is rather beautiful. I guess I'm looking for misery.

I love your trees, by the way! Great tonality and sharpness. Perhaps the last one would benefit from composing a tiny bit higher.

Really, I think you could get these results from any decent MF camera. But on the other hand, there probably is few other 1000 gram lens-and-camera combos that could give similar or better results.

I have to get use to this rangefiner's view. I'm really use to a WLF and grid mattes on landscapes. On the M7II, FOV lines light up in the rangefinder representing the FOV for the lens you have mounted with no grid lines but some basic indicators on the perimeter. You also see the area around the lenses FOV. So in the case of the 150mm lens, you are really seeing a small area for its FOV in the rangefinder. The exception is the 43/50mm which take a supplementary view finder attached to the flash hot shoe and that too shows you more than 100%

Oh, come on! That's the nature of any rangefinder camera. The Bessa shows approximately 88% coverage at ~3 meters distance. Anything closer will be more like what the framlines show, and anything more remote will give more room than the frames indicate. Your Mamiya probably behaves just the same.

My general advice for rangefinders is to compose only what you really, really need of the scene within the frames. The rest will be there on the negative.

----------------

By the way. NEVER try a Zeiss Ikon rangefinder. The new one, that is. It will forever change your verdict on what a good viewfinder should be like. Everything else will seem like a bad joke after that experience.

The inability of the 645D to turn off its Long exposure noise reduction affected how many shots I was able to take this evening, which is a pity as the light was really good this evening

33-55mm at 33mm, f/16 75 seconds with Kenko ND400

and 33-55mm at 33mm and f.16, 2 min20 secs Kenko ND400
