A roll I can get excited about - took the Bessa I Vaskar to NYC a few weeks ago, with New Portra 160 film in it. I don't get enough chances to commute into Manhattan... and the nut I am, I prefer a folding camera without focus or exposure aids for street shooting

My first Panoramic shot

This was my first proper go at a panoramic shot. I used a Pentax DFA 55mm lens at f/16. There are six shots in portrait orientation. It took quite some time as the Lake District is pretty busy at the moment and had to find times when people weren't walking on one of the most popular paths in the area, the one up Loughrigg Fell from the village of Ambleside

Great stuff guys! Although I don't really get this stopping down to f/16 and beyond when you don't have to.

-------------------

For the second roll I shot with the Bessa III, I set it to 6x6 format and loaded with Tri-X. It turned out to be a great combination.
I've never liked Tri-X before, but this time I used Tmax developer, which gave a very nice tonality and files that were easy to process.

Martin, this camera has been on my bucket list and I'm thinking you've put it right at the top here... over any digital... Excellent results

Nice chrome!
In 35mm and 120, I regularly shoot TriX@1250 in Diafine. How much does Tmax developer gives you?

Cheers,

Luc

The metallic feel on #2 jumps off the screen, nice. Did you ever have a chance to experience the TXP version of Tri-X?

Very slowly going through the films.

Chamonix 45-N2 - Nikkor 300/9 - FP4+ Pyrocat MC 1+1+100

Great, I love mountain shots And this one is a fine example.

Martin, loving your work with that Bessa III. Looks like a great camera too.

Jussi, I still need to get some of that new Portra 160 to try. But most of all I need to get out and actually shoot more.

The richness and subtle tones of the 4x5 format is really starting to come through on your shots. Am I still seeing issues with the even development in the sky?

The level of crispness on this shot is what I'd expect from this camera. So is it the lens, PP or both that sets it apart from many of the others?

Hi Tuco,
thanks. By the way your photos are amongst I am always looking for. Great stuff! Years ago when I worked with my large format Arcaswiss I did a lot of lab bw work but unfortunately I had problems with my skin because of Hydrochinon in the developer thus I had to change to digital. I worked a long time with Nikon (D700 and D3 actually). I was very happy with low light performance and reportage photography looked great. But in landscape I always missed the quality of my Arcaswiss and was longing for better quality. 2 months ago I had the possibility to test the Phase One IQ180 and was totally sold by the files. The decision making started and finally I bought the 645d a good week ago. IQ180 is out of my reach (at least now )
Concerning your question: Yesterday we had heavy rain in Austria but I saw a chance that a small weather window could bring some improvement. Luckily I got the possibility to capture a few photos in brighter moments with no rain as well as some during rain (the wooden door was photographed during rain). I processed them in Lightroom (a kingdom for PhaseOne for support of PEF - please!!!!!) and further on enhanced the output in OnOne Photo Tools 2.6. but not that much. The washed air did most of the work for me.
Best regards
