Hi everyone. I just got my first MF camera today. These were not taken with a MF, but are images of one
Congrats. Are you going to be developing your own film or sending it out?

Thanks tuco and goddo. Later I want to develop my own film(never done it before), but for now I'll let a lab do it.

Some more from film

The lab I used in Cardiff uses Ilford chemicals and I have generally found that the ilford film comes out better for it

Cardiff castle clock:

cardiff Castle itself

Same camera and lens f/11 1/160 same film

It's fairly easy (B&W) and we can help you get started

Nice. These scans look much better. Looks like you have some good detail in there.
I like the chandelier shot, but isn't it a pity they don't use real candles any more?

The V600 isn't too bad, though the film holder is incredibly fiddly. These are much better than the last. Was scanned at 1500dpi. Would like to experimenting with developing my own black and white at some stage. My velvia 50 has had to be sent away. Be interesting what comes from those. Heading to Asia for a month, taking plenty of film and my 645D with me, although nothing over 400iso!

Why is that?
You'll probably get used to the fiddly epson film holders after a while...

Will be going through a few security checks in airports although most are fine up to 3200 ISO.

Some pictures from Seoul

Am in Korea on business and went out for dinner with some Korean colleagues this evening. One of them always tries to avoid the camera which just makes you want to photograph her more!

Pentax 645D FA 75mm f/6.7 1/60 pentax AF 200 FG flash at -0.5

In our hotel lobby area there is the strangest picture I have ever seen!

Pentax 645D Pentax FA 33-55 @ 50mm f/11 6 seconds

I went out for a brief walk after dark with my camera and tripod and used 4 images in Photomtix and converted to black and white

Pentax 645D FA 33-55mm at 36mm f/16 191 secs, 63 secs 90 secs and 30 secs

More from Seoul

Went on a wander round Changdeok Palace in Seoul today. Beautiful place! On the way we walked through some streets and I was attracted by the street lights which although rusty had character

Pentax 645D FA 33-55 @43mm f/16 1/60 ISO 160

We also walked through some streets busy with shoppers and traders. here is a wood trader plying his trade:

Pentax 645D FA 33-55 @33mm f/11 1/40 ISO 400

Inside the park itself we visited the secret garden which had many small pool and lakes

pentax 645D FA 33-55 @ 48mm f/11 1/125 ISO 640

We came across the national flower of Korea, the Mugunghwa or the Rose of Sharon

Kodak Medalist II is back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is back after several months with Ken Ruth for a conversion to 120 and a general CLA (this is how much $$$ I love my Medalist).

Yesterday was not a great day for landscape shots but I still took the Medalist on the hunt.

Plus-X 125 @ 400 in Diafine (only 16 rolls left )

and it makes a fine 10x14 print to boot.

Cheers,

Luc

Hi Tuco,
Great photos! What scanner and software are you using for medium format?

Thanks

Some more from Korea

this time from Ulsan on the South east coast:

We visited the caves where amethysts were mined. Did a small motorboat rise in the waters of the caves and then entered the caves themselves.

here there is a spring falling into the pools (not sure whether man-made or natural)

Pentax 645D Pentax 645 FA 55-110 at 90mm and f/16 20 second exposure

There was also a dragon painted in the wall elsewhere in the caves:

Pentax 645D FA 33-55 at 33mm and f/11, 5 images blended in photomatix

There was also a water fountain in interesting shapes in another part of the caves

Pentax 645D FA 33-55mm at 36mm and f/13 10 sec exposure, sharpened and levels adjustment in CS5

I got the 1st 2 rolls of MF film I've ever shot from the lab today. I copied these with a DSLR and macro lens-came out better than I thought they would. All were with the 75 2.8. Next roll I will use the 150 3.5. All were at Hermann Park near downtown Houston.

Long exposure twilight shots. 2 seconds

I had to get as close as the lens would focus to get the squirrel with the 75mm.

Someone on the train shouted "I like your camera!"

Some spice from Korea!

Some chillies were put out to dry at restaurants at Seonyonggang close to the city of Chuncheon.

Pentax 645D Pentax FA75 f/8 1/320 ISO 100

This is dak galbi - literally means chicken ribs but actually a whole chicken cooked with scallions, chilli, chinese leaf, rice cakes and sweet potato. It's a local speciality in Chuncheon - one street has 25 different dak galbi restaurants! This is early on in the cooking stage - you pay for the food and you basically have to cook it yourself! Very social way of enjoying a good meal

Pentax 645D FA75 f/8 1/100 ISO 400

And the dish is almost ready to eat. It is fairly spicy, but can be ordered to be seriously hot, which isn't for me, but it was very tasty!
