The old saying expose for the shadows and develop for the highlights. Highlights develop faster than the shadows. You can compress or expand your highlights during development.
Those are the true HDR photographs. I don't develop my own film.....yet. But I wonder if I specified to the lab that I wanted them to develop for the highlights (shorter process) if they would abide. I don't think I am quite to this point with my MF skills, but it would be nice to know if that was an option.

Mt. Hood over the valley near Hood River, OR. Used a grad ND filter to bring back the mountain a bit.

I couldn't say. I've never used a lab for any BW work. I've been doing it myself since my first roll whenever that was. But maybe you could ask if they would reduce the normal development time by some percentage and work on tuning that percentage with subsequent rolls. But it is highly unlikely they use any staining developers. They most likely use a replenishing, box speed developer.

I loaded the 645N with Velvia 50 to try out the newly acquired A 35/3.5, although some of these were shot with the 55mm and 75mm as well.

Geez, those are some rich colors on that Velvia. That gradient in #4 is ridiculous.....well done.

Thanks tuco and fabian. I confess, I am a bit of a Velvia junkie! I shot a roll on the GS-1 this morning after dropping my son off at a high trail head.

I have not shot velvia yet, but those colors are rich. I am heading out to Eastern Washington later this week in search of green rolling hills and blue skies....now I have a few rolls of velvia en route to try, wish me luck

A couple more shots from the same roll of Ektar. Out at friends place enjoying the nice weather. Second one is a little hot....but i still like it.
