Some great work here - really my standout thread on Pentaxforums.com.

Here's a shot to prove that slide film doesn't hold detail in the shadows!! Too much time with the K5...

Thanks. What is interesting is you don't need any other gear like strobes. Shoot in the shade at sunset and you can use the indirect light from the open sky as a light source and it shows up in the photo even though you can't see it while taking the picture.

I don't remember the exposure time. I shot this while waiting for it to get darker and do a longer exposure. But I liked this one better. I used the Sun Surveyor App on my phone to line up the camera and find the Celestial Pole since it was too bright out to see the North Star when I set up. It's an app for photographers too. It has an azimuth/altitude spherical overlay in the phone's camera for a live view. It came in handy.
Not to sound fawning, Tuco, but you really do epitomize the great attributes of a photographer. I see this star trails image, and I remember your terrific images from the bike-mounted 6x7, and I'm reminded of how fun and creativity-spurring photography was to me when I was a kid. The difference between you and the rest of us, though, is that you've retained that spirit through the years, and you've really embellished it with your skill.

You really inspire me.

Really nice photos....second one is my favorite of the set, cool framing. Great application for that velvia, those colors are awesome.

I can only imagine walking around NYC with a camera.....some day
