alas some first images to this thread through my TLR with expired Porta 160VC from 2009... Thought I'd share both the (nortitsu) lab scans and my flatbed attempts (using baby clothespins because I can't find the holders)... I've labeled them though it's quite obvious. I sure would love to be able to get that noritsu color and balance (without paying for it)!

It's quite a learning curve this stuff! I learned very clearly from this first roll that my TLR does NOT have IBIS.

The next roll is in the chamber, some new Portra 400 and I'm hoping it doesn't take me another 3 months to finish shooting it...

I am no scanning expert. but I saw a video and found useful. Basically after you preview the scan in scanner, you want to select the area without the border, the scanner then auto adjust the exposure and WB. If you select the dark area as well, it will throw off the WB and exposure. Then, you fixed the WB and exposure setting, and now you can change the scan area that include the border (if you like to include border), and scan. In this way I found I get a more accurate scanned image to work with.

Taken with the Yashica 24 6x6, but cropped. Expired FP4+, which does interesting things to skies, I am discovering. Developed in Perceptol, which I am impressed with.

i was about to ask about the blotchy sky. not a fan of that but the lower half tones are very nicely rendered.

Thanks! Perhaps I sould go with a 2x3 crop to get rid of more sky when I print it. Another example here. The film expired in 2005. I don't think I will be bothering again with expired film. I haven't tried enlarging and printing with it yet, but I can't imagine it will improve. I used some from 1999 once which was worse.

My vote says it is not the film causing the blotching. 2005 is not very old for BW film. It would have had to be subjected to really extreme environmental conditions to cause that effect I suspect.

Actually I like it too here. It adds something, as does the cloud. I am intrigued to know what people think might have cause it. I've emailed Ilford to see if they can tell me.

OK, any other ideas then?

Under high magnification, how do the negatives look. I mean, can you see it on the negative? It almost looks like blotchy stains on the scanner glass or something. But I can't say I never seen that effect before.
