Ditto!

Do you find the zoom lenses to be heavy? Any particular restrictions on f stop with them?

I've seen so few images with the zooms and they are so convenient for a bigger variety of circumstances. Love you choice of the 35mm for the tree, awesome capture.

Susan

Susan, thank you! The 35mm is my most used lens.

The 45-85 is an awesome lens and very sharp up to f/14, then it starts to fall off around f/16 due to diffraction. The 80-160 is the other zoom I own, it's also very good, but not quite as sharp as the 45-85, but that may just be my copy of it. They aren't terribly heavy, with the 45-85 pretty reasonable and 80-160 a bit heavier. Both lenses are sharpest at their widest focal length and fall of slightly towards the high focal lengths, more so my copy of the 80-160 than the 45-85.

The new 28-45 is a BEAST, which is one of the reasons I've not jumped at getting it. I'd have preferred the 28-45 sacrifice IS for savings in size and weight, but I'm sure the wedding and event photographers think it's worth it...they don't have to hike as far as I do!

Yes, you are absolutely right that the 28-45 is a BEAST! I have been toting it around and I have to admit it is heavy. BUT, this lens creates files that are killers.
With the camera back pack weighing in at 40# it makes hiking a little slower for a guy my age (69). On the plus side it has caused me to work out a bit more to keep in shape to use it. Did I mention this lens is heavy?

A little gorge I discovered a while back and decided to re-shoot it with the new Pentax gear.

A few from this morning with the 645z and the 'kit' SMC Pentax-D FA 645 55mm F2.8 AL [IF] SDM AW. The first two on a tripod and the third hand held.

And one other taken with the 645z and the HD Pentax-DA 645 28-45mm F4.5 ED AW SR. Sorry for the repetitive subject matter but the light was changing every second and producing different outcomes.

One of my first 645Z anb 25mm pictures

the same day I received the lens, I was lucky to have that perfect combination of cloudy enough to get nice colors. The dynamic range of this camera is nothing but amazing

4 seconds exposure and shadows recovery in Lightroom.

It may be close, but I'm convinced an autofocus, digital true 6x7 format camera is what waits in heaven
