Have a look at this fellow I came across (David Renwald) with his landscapes. I know this is a medium format thread, but it serves as a comparison benchmark to ask the question; can a simple 35mm view finder camera from 1960 attempt to compete with a modern medium format DSLR in landscapes?

Arnold- It has always been about the person behind the camera, not the camera itself. I have seen some great 35mm film landscapes.

Oh I agree with that. However, many feel that their gear limits them. Of course that may be the case in specialty cases. I do also understand the love of photographic gear for its own sake. My own admiration is for the steel mechanical jewels made over half a century ago. For others it is the latest on the market.

A lovely shot. My computer would commit suicide if I tried something like that. I'd hate to imagine the file size.. at least a gigabyte.

The third one is my favorite. Very nice view, color, composition.

For some reason your first one has extreme dynamic range challenges with super dark shadows and some blown highlights in the clouds that I have not seen before with the z. Have you tried recovering any of those? I just read a review by Chris Giles of the z and he uses at most 1 ND filter for these situations since recovery is awesome with the z.
