Terrific landscapes itshimitis!

My first photo shooting medium format and my first with my 645z which came today. I've shot DSLR's for years but after seeing the latitude in post and the amazing files from the "z" today I'm definitely hooked!

So, here's my simple first submission. This is my very active 8 yr. old, Eli. Getting him to stop running, playing baseball, basketball, etc. for a 5 second shot is an accomplishment. You can see the red in his face from running just before I snapped this photo. All boy... a good thing!

645z | 150mm

Beautiful portrait!

Congrats on the z.

A test picture from last week. I used the Multi-exposure feature to simulate an ND filter. The Image was taken with 15 Frames at 1/10 sek f11 within 30 seconds. It will took a lot of dynamik, but there still enough potential for post processing. But I will stick with 15 normal frames in combination with Photoshop to simulate a ND filter.

Nicely done.

Do you think post is easier to work with normal over multi exposure? No dynamic range advantage in multi? Does your normal include nd filters?

Thanks,

Susan

I think I figured out how it's happening. Last night I was on 500px and noticed the "Download" button on our photos. Click that and it provides the photo with credits from 500px / copyright info applied. I searched the settings trying to find a way to disable "Download" but didn't see it. If you find a solution other than disabling the "Store" please let me know. I'm surprised 500px is allowing that type of sharing / access without the photographer's permission. I guess when you sign up for an account it's hidden in their TOS / Privacy Policy.

Since you can actually sell images through 500px I'm surprised they aren't tighter with this.

Hopefully, I'm just overlooking a setting. You would think there would be a huge outcry from the 500px community.

Unfortunately, we've received three days of rain since my camera was delivered. I had a couple hours with a break in the clouds so I immediately grabbed the camera and my 8 yr. old for some quick shooting. "Quick" and "learning a new camera system" don't always go together that well but the button layout and menus make the "z" a pleasure to use. My plan is to use this camera for landscape work predominately, however, I love the "z" and 150mm for portrait work. So, most of the photos below are of my son.

My three day review with this camera and three lenses (FA 35mm, 55mm & 150mm) I can honestly say it's the best piece of gear I've ever purchased for my photography. I am one happy camper!

And a fun one...

Well done.

For being always on the move your son is really good at modeling!

Nice work.

Oooh, a Pentacon Six. I've been eyeing up one of those recently. Have you tried it?

I looked at my photos on 500px from a different account and noticed the download button. I emailed 500px about it and this was the response I got:

"The Download button is actually a "purchase" button. If you try clicking it, you'll notice the next step is to pay for the photo. We've found in testing that sales increase when we use the term "Download" instead of "Purchase".

If you'd rather not have your photos for sale at all, and there be no "Download" button on them, you can disable your Store at https://500px.com/settings/store/settings.

Cheers,

Alex
Manager, Customer Excellence
500px"

Bit of an odd one that. Why do they think that people hoping to get it for free will suddenly stump up $50 to download it? They'll just go back and right click.

I'm trying to find routes to sell photos and need to work harder at it as in spite of one of my photos being viewed 141,000 times and liked 5,000 times on Facebook with a link to print sales, not one has been purchased. That kind of shows you the balance of how many people are prepared to pay for things they like.

I did try to start up a website a year ago, but am hopeless at technical things where computers are concerned so might've to look into getting someone set it up for me...
