Nice images. I really like your 45-85 one. I've read some reviews of that lens that call it mediocre but your shot is terrific! How do you like it all around? It's a very nice range to add to the 80-160.
Thanks! So far I really like all the 645 lenses I have tried. A couple were very inexpensive and had a number of critical reviews, like the 45/2.8 and 200/4 which both seem really nice to my eyes. Nice to work with too (smooth operation).
I agree it goes well with the 80-160 and those two are the core of my standard 645 kit. I have zero complaints about it so far but I have only had it for a couple of weeks. I haven't shot directly into the sun or other intentionally challenging scenarios. I'm injured and can't get out as much or as far as I'd like at the moment. I'll report back any issues I find with it but so far it's all positive for me.

Very cool. I don't think Mt Brighton has been open once yet this year. If they have been open, it couldn't have been for long. You get back this way at all?
I make it to see my folks in Ann Arbor once or twice a year. The frustration of being a snow lover and living there was too much for me!
I'll probably never ski lower Mi again but I'd love to check out Mt. Bohemia one day. Looks like my kind of ski area with minimal amenities and their focus is on skiing. And of course lots of snow!

Some from down the road from me in a brief 12 hour respite from the rain. Still very windy with yet another storm heading in.

This photographer was brave or stupid. I suspect he got a tripod for Christmas. It was blowing a gale, and he is right up against the edge of a 300 foot cliff. His camera is a small one, and the wind will have rendered the tripod useless...

Pentax 645Z DFA 35 f/3.5 f/11 1/50 ISO 1600

I left my heavy duty Manfrotto in the car until I took this shot. Quite a lot of light pollution above it from two small towns that are a fair distance away. Used Worm's Head Hotel as a windbreak

f/8 10minute 8 second exposure ISO 200

The cottage with the lights coming from it is owned by the National Trust and can be rented for holidays. Great place to hole up for a few days, though can be windy...

A few more from last evening...

1.

2. I suspect a teenager lives in this very well positioned house, as I don't think there is a single light that isn't on! This shot is where I could have done with a 21mm to get the headland and sea in the shot too. Could have stitched, but the light was at that stage where it changes very quickly, so decided against it...

3. A shorter length shot with a smaller aperture: f/11 for 5 minutes still ISO 200

The 45 - 85 is a great lens. If someone calls it mediocre, they either have a bad copy or don't know what they are talking about! Anyone can find faults in a lens via MFT graphs and stuff, but in the field, the 45 - 85 is fantastic. A new replacement for this would be fantastic but most likely heavy in weight and price...

The maximum aperture of f/4.5 doesn't bother me either...
Great to hear, thank you.

So many gorgeous photos in this thread. I'd love to see a communal travelling exhibit of these printed at frightening sizes to get a fuller appreciation of all the hard work and talent on display here!

My last shots of 2015. Braved the local beach with my heavier tripod and the 645Z and the D-FA 35...

1. Handheld 1/25 f/16 ISO 100

Remaining were on tripod, hoping that the gale force wind wouldn't blow my tripod down!

2. 1/4 f/16 ISO 100

3. f/9.5 1/20 ISO 100

4. f/13 1/10 ISO 100

5. f/16 1/5 ISO 100

You have a way with the morning mist Mike, and Rodeo Moon above is hauntingly beautiful. Artistry.

Thank you Mike! And also for the two wonderful images on this page made by yourself.

itshimitis So right, my children, as teenagers, would leave all the lights on in the house even when they left! Beautifull series!

One more over the roofs of Mers les Bains with the A 150.
