The first shot is from a shoot I did on a recent break at home (been traveling for most of the last 8 months).

The second is from a shoot I just did up in Seattle. I was going for a Terry Richardson/American Apparel vibe.

Some from today. It didn't look promising initially as it was raining, but a gap appeared in the cloud giving a silvery light on to the sea which I liked...

Number 4 is my favourite. The one advantage of poor weather is that there are many many more ragworms than humans on the beach so the beach has a lot of undisturbed texture. The sharpness of the DFA 35 helps grab this. The light is very interesting as to the right/West, it is almost dark, and the clouds are lit by the streetlights of Swansea. To the south there is a gap in the cloud that is backlit by the remaining light after the sun has gone down (57 minutes before this shot was taken). It's amazing how long this remaining bit of light remains there, and it is normally more apparent in conditions like this...

Sorry, yes I was. Sounds like good planning to be in the right ;place at the right time also. I agree it is often the places and times when most others stay away that provide the opportunities for particularly striking shots.

I live less than 2 miles from this beach and can see the sea and coast from my house, so I decided to time a shopping trip 30 minutes before sunset so I could check conditions before going shopping. Initially it was pouring with rain, but knew conditions were changing quickly so parked up further down the seafront and jumped out with my camera initially shooting handheld at ISO 400 - the first shot was one taken pretty early on. The silvery hue and lower wind than recently and the fact that the rain was easing meant that I decided to risk it grabbing my tripod from the boot...

Another cold day here in the Gunnison Basin. High today was 0 F. But we got some interesting clouds and light so I was happy with that.

Slightly off-topic, but I'm curious if you have a strategy for shooting in/around inclement weather? I figure if anybody's figured it out, it would be a Welshman--I've spent a lot of hours outdoors here in the States, but the closest I've come to full-blown hypothermia was while fishing the Usk up near Abergavenny.

I love seeing all of these shots from Colorado. I'm green with envy, as the weather here has been unseasonably warm and terribly wet. A bit colder now, but of course no snow in sight. The poor ski areas! Hope your shoulder is mending up.

I use a LED-Plate (Sorry - it is not LCD - Typo), place the negative on it in a dark room. The I use my K3 with a Sigma 105/2,8 Macro at F8 and 100ASA to take a tripod photo. By making sections and saaemble them by a panorama software is a option to improve resolution (I just used one shot).

For development I correct the grey scale, crop and mirror the shot with lightroom (DNG). The negative invertion and final rework was done in GIMP.

Wow, so nice! I like #3 the best (although it needs a slight straighten I think) but all are very good.
