the lights on the bridge deck cast shadows of the railing detail onto the water, causing that effect. Sometimes it is barely visible, sometimes very pronounced.

you might check with blackcloudbrew. Whichever version of the 67 300 he has is also a very good choice. I shot one pic with his once before i found my M* and was knocked out by the performance.

I bought the SMC on eBay a couple of months ago and it's been great although I'd agree with all your minus points. I have seen a little fringe and have longed for a tripod collar but I'm mostly shooting landscapes stopped way down and the 645D is beefy enough that it's relatively manageable without the collar. So it does the trick. If I saw a good enough deal on a M* I'd probably trade up.

Out by the lake in a different spot this evening. It was cold and windy with snow squalls! Decent light was fleeting too but I had the place to myself!

A set of 3 panoramas with 6 vertical shots taken within 20 minutes yesterday. All with the 28-45mm. Weather Sealing is such a benefit at times like these. It was very windy and the results could have been better but a series from snowing to sunshine seemed fun. This is taken looking back west from the devils staircase pathway Glencoe-Kinlochleven.
