Matt- were you fully charged before heading out? I've been out with my k30 for a couple hours at those temps and had no issues. I kept a spare in a pocket on an inside layer but never needed it.

This isn't usually my bag, and figure skating is incredibly fast moving. The Z coped pretty well, just had to time the bursts and hope I didn't miss much whilst waiting for the buffer to clear...

Z and 80 -160 at f/5.6 and ISO 3200 1/800

Are there modern, digital-compatible versions of the batteries that attached with a cable so that you could keep the battery itself in a warm pocket? I think they used to be made for the film 645 and 67 cameras.
Maybe. I'll have a look. I was just thinking of strapping a chemical hand warmer to a battery holder with a rubber band next time.

Wow, that second figure skating shot looks incredibly dangerous! When I skated, my blades were sharp! These Z action shots look good.

Stormy night, pretty morn

Strange storm here in southern NH. Little snow late day yesterday, then rain, then about 6 snowed like
crazy, about 3" per hour with big wet sticky flakes. Plowed from 9:00 to midnight.
Shoveled decks this am, took a few pictures.
All with 645D and 80-160 lens

The shoveling was not fun but the scenery was striking.

Love the balance and quality of light in this Mike. The hues of blue and green are beautiful.
