.. maybe I should also get a dog.
It would look more authentic in a wolf suit.

Having an active one definitely gets me out more which is nice. She can also be a good model but if she runs off after a deer or wants to roll in poop or something like that I have to stop shooting and deal with her. That isn't always convenient but it's a tradeoff.

That's pretty impressive! The sunrise is great. So you need to camp out before sunrise to get a spot to shoot fireworks???
Thanks mate!

Sydney is a pretty mad place around New Year's Eve. If you want a position around the waterfront (and you don't have a ticket for one of the expensive enclosures, which don't have this view anyway), you have to queue. People begin to queue from the day before! If you want to secure a position at the front (essential if you want pictures without people in the way), you need to be near the front of the queue. I arrived at around 4am and there were a lot of people there before me - many of them asleep in tents.

So the answer to your question is 'yes'! :-) Worth it though.

Shot at sunrise on New Year's Eve 2016 while waiting to secure my vantage point for that night's fireworks.

645Z with 25mm f4DA lens (two frame pano).

Plenty of fireworks in that sky mate! Great shot.

Down at Birling Gap near Eastbourne:

Pentax 645Z - all handheld

FA 400 f/5.6

FA 80 - 160

It was Velvia 50 old version with P 6x7 and 45mm. Scanning the film does not really do the slide justice. Glad you like it.

I still have some (now out of date and not in freezer so might be a bit funky) Velvia 50, quite a challenge to shoot with, and as you say scanning it and showing it at its best is a challenge. It's definitely a look that is near impossible to replicate digitally - I've witnessed a few very poor attempts.
