Ivanvernon is correct, Image B is the P645D photo. I agree that P645 and P67 lenses are great to use with the K-1, as indeed are P67 lenses with the P645!

Image B: P645D, A75 f/2.8 at f11

Image A: K-1, FA77 f/1.8 Ltd at f11.

I believe for the Image A / B test I copied the white balance and tint values from the P645D shot to the K-1 (in Lightroom). Despite that, I prefer the blue sky in the P645D image.

My fear that I would not use my P645D after buying the K-1 are largely proven, however it's still a pleasure to use the 645D.

I have been lurking this thread for looooong time now. And I have been dreaming of getting a 645D and couple of lenses...but I own a K-1 and it is sweet. Still have to say that looking 645 images, it still makes me think of getting one with FA 45-80, FA 75 and 120 macro... But it might just be sitting and gathering dust. Good to have dreams thou.

Those are three great lens for the P645D/Z. I have the 45-80 in the A version and the 75 and 120 in both A and FA versions. The A versions are a real bargain nowadays if you do not require auto-focus capabilities. The 45-80 is so good that it can take the place of the 45, 55, and 75mm lenses . . . so buying just the 45-80 and the 120mm is an excellent start. These also work well on the K-1 or K-3 using an adapter. That is a good way to start accumulating the lenses and enjoying them before laying out the dollars for the D or Z. In fact, even after getting the D/Z, you may find yourself still using the lenses on the K-1--it works that good. It also gives you several nice camera features not available on the D at least--pixil shift, in-camera shake control, etc. The other frontier is to accumulate some P67 lenses as there are some great ones such as the universally acclaimed 67-55mm, which is sharper than anything else I own except maybe the Pentax-D FA 50mm f 2.8 macro.

If you decide to take the step, you will enjoy the journey! Good luck.

Well, thanks for the satisfaction of knowing! For me, it was more of a lucky guess than of any real expertise as I am far from being a competent pixil peeker.

It would be interesting to have another go at this test using the same lens and same settings on the K-1 and the 645D, say the A-75 or FA-75, on tripod and without using AF in order to make an equal comparison.

Using P67 lenses is a new thing for me, and I am still using them on the K-1 as I have yet to find a 67-645D/Z adapter. However, I have already found a dynamite lens, the P67-55mm which is fantastic on the K-1 and challenges the K-mount lenses in the sharpness department.

I share your fear about neglecting the D in favor of the K-1, especially now that I am using 645/67 lenses on the K-1.

Early morning walk along the beach and I wanted to capture the dynamics and water action of crashing waves. Not sure if I got it, but it was great fun. Most difficult was to remain upright. The movement of the water, sand under my feet disappearing and I'm staring at the live view screen. Not good for balance, but reminding myself of the cost of the camera fixed the balance quickly.
