I am studying how to put together this same system for my 645D/645Z set of cameras. I have tried to look up each component on eBay, and actually I am a little surprised that the costs seem pretty reasonable. I hate to bother you with ignorant question, but hope you will help me.

1. What is the exact name of the RotaCam strobe frame, and where can it be purchased?
2. I think I have all the components figured out except for one item, and that is the component that fits directly on top of your 645D in the hot shoe. I am thinking that the Cactus V6II is a two-part set, with one part serving as the base for the off-camera flash unit and the other part fitting into the on-camera hot shoe. Then the second part above the hot shoe would be the Neewer FT-16 16-channel Trigger Transmitter Receiver.
3. I am assuming that you need a base for each off-camera flash unit, meaning one base for each flash unit, but only one unit in the camera hot shoe.
4. Are there any cables, fasteners, or other connector elements needed to assemble the system?

Sorry to sound so obtuse, but hoping you can help.

Thank you very much.
1. Mamiya Rotacam flash bracket for 645af. These are not sold any longer but can be found on ebay from time to time for between $100 - $150. They are very sturdy and lightweight and should last a lifetime of rugged use.

2. The Cactus V6 II sits directly on top of the camera, between the camera and the Neewer FT-16s Transmitter.

3. To fire the flash, in my case it's the Neewer 850tt with the Neewer FT-16s Receiver attached.

4. Only 1 Cactus V6 II Transceiver is required with the setup I used In the picture above.

I bought the Neewer FT-16s Transmitter/receiver combo from Amazon for about $17, the Godox version sells for over $30. I've used the Neewer brand of these for approximately 2 years on 4 of my Neewer 850TT flashes without ever encountering any firing issues so I thought I'd mention that in case you would like to try these and would want to save a few $$$. I love the lithium batteries in those flashes with their short recycle times, plus they seem to last forever before needing recharged.

The day I need a permit to use any camera in a public place is the day I stop taking pictures and insert my high powered camera where the sun doesn't shine. (Which, as you know, is a place where the Z excels...)

Images from Arsat B 250mm f 5.6

I picked up an Arsat B 250mm medium format lens from Ukraine for only $50 plus $10 freight, new condition, quite an amazing value. It came with front and back caps, a hood, and soft case. It takes two adapters, one to get from Arsat B to Pentacon 6, and another adapter to get from P6 to Pentax 645. The lens covers the entire 645D and 645Z image circles, but I did not check to see if it does as well on the 645N. The double adapter approach gives no ill effects that I can see--no vignetting, preserves infinity focus, etc. I have just taken it out one time, on the 645D, and you can use either manual mode or aperture priority mode.Build quality is excellent with high quality plastics and metal.

These shots are from a roll of Fomapan 100 I shot in a weekend away in the north of Burgos at the end of 2016, but I didn't get around to developing it until a few months ago and scanned it yesterday. Looks like the film is faulty as it's covered in little splotches, visible in the sky in the shots here. I have a few rolls of 35mm B&W 400 from Foma to try but I strongly suspect I won't be buying any Foma film ever again.

Shot in a Yashica Mat 124G.

That's very interesting... I am scanning my grandfather's archive and a lot of his older film is like that. Film from mid 50s has these splotches and I was blaming his rinsing technique but now that I think about it, his later film doesn't have these. Either Soviet film got better, or his rinsing technique improved. I tried dealing with them in PP, but it's really too much work if you have more than one photo to deal with...

It's almost looks like reticulation. Do you use an alkaline developer and strong acid fixer?

Testing A New Film (For Me Anyway)

We, as film shooters, have that little problem of getting the "shot" when there is not enough light for the film you're using.
I decided to gain one stop, many two, with Portra 800. This is my first outing to test it for general daylight shooting.
I only purchased one roll to see how it looks compared to my prior film of choice, Portra 400. Looks like I will buy
more based on the results and the lab people tell me it pushes to 1600 nicely.
