Manmade and natural lights

The light shows of Sydney's Vivid festival combine rather nicely with the universe's own light show...

Having just relocated back to my homeland of England, I thought it was time to find out how easy it would be to shoot star trails in London's skies (not quite as clear, generally-speaking, as Sydney!). Shot really as a test before taking on some of the bigger scenes, here are the stars over some of the ornate chimneys of Hampton Court Palace.

Thanks, Mike. Appreciate it very much.

I took the scene with the star trails last year and felt at the time that the lights of the annual Vivid festival would add interest to the shot. I made a mental note of where precisely I had shot from so I could match it up... The Vivid image was taken just before I emigrated from Australia, so just managed to get the ingredients required!

I finally got home yesterday for the first time since April 17th. This meant two things: I got a very good welcome from the puppies and I had a lot of work getting my images into my iMac Lightoom Catalogue. About 3500 images. I will also have to back up a 5TB portable hard drive as it has a wonky connection on the USB port and keeps disconnecting without being ejected which has put it at risk of getting corrupted. I stopped adding images to it as new images weren't showing up in Lightroom so I am going to have to copy the whole drive within Lightroom.
Have been going through a few images from NZ...

1. Z and 45 - 85: A still Lake Fergus:

2. Milford Sound, DA 28 - 45

Third try.... I saw this post this morning on my IPad and was riveted by this image. It is remarkable, beautifully shot and well executed in every way. I was drawn in! I would loved to have seen even more of the environment.

Superb shot. We'll miss your Australian shots - you've swapped the majestic curves and angles of Sydney's unique architecture for some dirtly old chimney pots, not quite the same

I'll look forward to what you get in your new environment.
