Interesting discussion about the word ' plasticity ' occured here. In Dutch it called 'plasticiteit ' and that was the word I wanted to translate. It is as 'house' stated a competely normal word to use in art. I ought to know because
I have been teaching plastic arts for 26 years.
I like the almost organic growth of these storehouses at the backside of there houses
I don't think there have been to many built-environment/city planning restrictions in the past.
In deed it is hard to talk/write about art, that is why artists chose another métier/way to express themselves. Still it is possible to describe the motives of an artist why he/she creates these works.
Most of my life I have been working as a sculptor and my way of looking at things are influenced by the way a sculptor looks at things for inspiration.
The organic growth of these volumes/buildings make me think about how one could make a sculpture or even a painting for that matter.
If you look through your eyelashes you could discover a cubistic painting in this scene.
That is what attracts me so much in photography because you can discover objects by framing them into
something new. Abstract art made by people wihout intentention. I like that thought.
For example the following photographs give me that same feeling; very sculpture like images.
