The faster the film, the sooner it will fog. Compare the base + fog density of the expired film to that of fresh film of the same kind to get an indication of how well off it is too. If there is significant fogging you can also see it on a light table next to fresher film. I've had 2013 expired Delta 3200 showing fogging already. Increasing your exposure for old film will push your high values up and help keep them more white in BW film but that won't help for deep blacks. They will become lighter grey the more the film's base fogs.
