The first shot is among the best you have posted here. BTW, I'm heading up to Cleveland tomorrow, the 30th, for my work at the CMA de-installing the Kusama show, prior to it moving to Atlanta. So I'll be in town, though working during the week, until Saturday the 3rd, leaving early that day. So, maybe I'll get to meet you. Might go down to the park to photograph those rocks in the one section.

Welcome johnhc! Nice first shot. I guess you are in the mid-Atlantic area? I live in Baltimore but work in DC.

Looks like I will be out of town helping my son buy his first welding rig for his pipeline construction job. Sorry I cannot come down to museum, wishing you a nice visit while here.

City Lightning-- Arizona

2004 was a good year for lightning displays in southern Arizona. Great years are rare. 2018 was another good year. This shot was from 2004.

I originally intended this picture to be part of my 'new and old side-by-side' series, with The Shard behind Tower Bridge. But, you know, sometimes the scene is just telling you to make the composition a bit cleaner... So I positioned myself with the Shard hidden behind the nearer tower...

645Z with 28-45mm lens @ 29mm.

At the moment, there's major work going on at the Houses of Parliament in London. The tower usually referred to (wrongly) as Big Ben - actually called The Elizabeth Tower (previously The Clock Tower and St. Stephen's Tower) - has scaffolding all over it.

Rather than seeing this as a problem, I wanted to use it to create an eerie, sinister mood... The looming presence of a glow in the sky, the mixture of the familiar and the weirdly jarring. Somehow more interesting than yet another version of the usual shot...

645Z with 28-45mm lens @ 39mm.

Highlights on the bridge and lamp 'make' the picture (IMO). The tower, apart from the clock face, looks like something at an oil refinery.
