Actually it is an army training facility. How to build a bunker?

Yeah I realized it seems to be spiraling upward, which cranes don't do (AFAIK). Amusement ride?

You got it :-)

Having googled, it's this:
Starflyer fairground ride South Bank London UK Stock Photo: 86151041 - Alamy

This probably helps to see it in context

Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen. It's higher and faster...I haven't looked at the posts below yet...was here only a few days ago before I went to Norway, the home of a bottle of beer for £21.

Now having seen the answer, I feel foolish. Have taken a shot handheld of the Carousel before on the South Bank...

Hey gang, I've been out of pocket of late but finally set the alarm for 4:45a and jumped up to watch the Sandhill cranes this morning near Lodi, CA.
I only really got one shot, but will keep going back.

Remarkable. And as a nostalgic note, my second thought on reading this was recalling the movie "Invaders from Mars" ca. 1953, where the point on the ground surface where the invaders dug in was examined from afar using the Mt. Palomar telescope, operated at a somewhat more depressed elevation than I think is actually possible. 600 x 1.4 indeed.

P.S. Remarkably little apparent atmospheric turbulence effects; perhaps due to the time of day.
