I like to keep things slightly balanced (and it's been too cloudy lately for star trails). ;-)

A very rare HDR image from me - 8 images blended in Lightroom - I think it's reasonably believable...This is taken from the lookout from western part of Tongyeong, Korea

Z and 28 - 45...

Ivan:

In taking those, did you set the exposure high by a few stops to make the snow white instead of gray, or did you let the camera run its program mode without exposure offset and then fix the snow whiteness in post production?

I was shooting manual exposure f 5.6, 1/160 second, ISO 1600 (to allow faster shutter). The snow actually came out about right on most of the photos taken today, but I did make some fine adjustments on some of them. However, I did not record my adjustments for this particular shot. Some of my soft focus shots came out too light because I was also shooting some of the scenes at f 11.0 to avoid the soft focus effect and to test the lens as a regular 120mm landscape lens, and on couple of shots, forgot to reset exposure with the larger (soft) aperture. This was my first time to step out with this lens, so I was not yet entirely comfortable with it, but from what I can observe thus far, I like it. Thank you for the question.

#2 is just a fantastic shot in terms of exposure and processing. Kudos. The more I look at it the more impressed I am. Nothing's blown out, nothing's underexposed. However did you manage it ????

I exposed with 0.7 stops negative compensation as I knew the lights could easily throw things out. One of the joys of the Pentax is that you can draw detail from the shadows with no pain. There is no real noise either even though handheld at 800 ISO. I usually start by pressing the auto exposure in lightroom and then move the dials until I like the results. Lightroom wanted to make this darker but also with less contrast. I added back more contrast within PS using Viveza.

The LR develop panel is below and the histogram on the left is post PS processing...
