Developing your own film especially 120

how many people here do this dastardly deed ????? And if so I HAVE A COOL TRICK TO SHARE. When loading 120 onto a Patterson reel can be quite daunting, but I have a cool technique to share. If you succeed on your first attempt you are fine however after that you are out of room inside the dark bag. What to do, well roll the film back up carefully not touching the inside only the edges and make it tight and put it inside of a 35mm container . Wait ten minutes and loading the spool will be a breeze.

Not me. First, 120 roll does not have canisters. And second I use SS reels.

This is maybe a dumb question, but how do I find out what size of lens cap will fit my 127mm 3.5 for the RB67? Is it the size of the filter thread?

These portraitures remind me of D-76 film developer, Selectol print developer and Ektalure paper combo I use to do. Yeah, if your lens takes, say, a 77mm filters then same size lens cap should work.

some soft focus shots

Here are a few close landscapes with the 645Z and the Pentax 67 120mm f 3.5 SF. These old lenses are considered somewhat passe, and mostly used for flowers and ladies' faces, but I like them for certain landscapes as well.

He didn't say that it does, but described a "neat trick" to put a rewound roll of 120 into a (presumably empty) 135 canister, where it apparently will acquire a better curl for loading into the developing reel (I think?)

Beautiful shot, love film is is very crisp/ What setting on the scanner??
16 bits and 2400 dpi that gives me about an 80 MB file
Believe it or not, for $5 my camera store lab gives me 200 MB files on my color film!

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll find one somewhere.

Just finished my first roll of Portraits through the RB. Have to send the film away so it'll be a bit before I can show any pics. I like the colour rendition of the Mamiya lenses, from what I've seen of examples, anyways.

The portraits above look kinda soft because of the scanning, I think. The negs look a good deal sharper. Not that sharpness is the be-all end-all anyways.

Putting 120 film that is about 2.5 inches wide into a canister that is about 1.5 inches wide (top off ) at first just sounded like he was talking about 135 film.

It's not the sharpness of the image but the soft shadows and the toning of the image that make for look and feel of the combo I mentioned.

Ah, I got ya. This was taken on Tri-X 400 and developed in...DDX? I think that's what I use.

The scans I got back from the lab had every frame a different tone for some reason, so I corrected them to middle grey before posting. Even then, some are kinda purple.

Interesting. I recently got a Mamiya soft focus lens for the RB67. So far I only developed 3 photos I took with it. Another roll is waiting to be dropped off. But it doesn't look anything like that. In fact, based on the 3 photos I have seen, It doesn't look that glowingly soft, nether like your photos, nor what I've seen from Mamiya on Flickr... We'll see what this roll looks like.

Cokin once made a clear filter that was effectively a random phase plate for the purpose of portraiture softening. I imagine it would just be a math problem for post processing software to similarly manipulate an image.
