What a great subject for that technique. Very well executed too.

Thanks so much for the kind comments on the Balcombe Viaduct shot, everyone - appreciate it very much!

The BT Tower in London (previously known as the GPO Tower, the Post Office Tower and the Telecom Tower). Built in 1964, the main tower is 581 feet tall - which made it the tallest building in the UK until 1980. Until it was eclipsed by other, larger structures, it was once an icon of London. It used to have public access, with a revolving restaurant - something that was stopped due to security concerns. It still serves as a key element of the communications system.

Great shot. Ed, I am wondering about your overall impressions of the 67/300/4 on the 645Z. I have it and the 67/200/4 as well, and have generally found the 200 much sharper. Your photo looks very good, however, and that's why I would appreciate your overview comment on the lens, Thanks, ivan

Thanks squire!

I think it depends on whether you mean the 300 f4 or the 300 f4 EDIF. The former lens I have never owned, but believe it to be only competent. The EDIF version, though, is a stunningly good lens. One of the best lenses of any length I have used on any system. Certainly eclipses the 200 f4 for quality.

Which version do you have?

Just to provide some perspective on London's ever-expanding skyline, this picture shows a current scene. The second tall building from the left (now called Tower 42, formerly the NatWest Tower) was the building the eclipsed the BT Tower for size, being 600ft tall. The Gherkin (to the left of the shot) is newer and nearly as tall at 590 ft. The building rapidly sprouting behind it (22 Bishopgate) it dwarfs them all, at 912 ft. The Shard (not shown in this scene, but in the St. Paul's shots I posted recently) is even taller at 1,016ft. All very impressive, but certainly not the London I grew up visiting...

OK, no doubt that is the explanation. When I checked the PF reviews of the two lenses, it made perfect sense. I will try to find a nice copy of the 300mm M* ED(IF). The M* 300mm should be a great bird lens. Thank you for the clarification. ivan

The Toronto skyline is similarly blighted by a plague of improbably huge, cyclone-inducing glass wedding cake condo towers, shoddily built for kleptobrats and airbnb ghost hotel operators.

I think I had the 67 300/4 you are talking about and my copy seemed very nice. No complaints although the camera needs to be very well supported to get a sharp shot.

I only got rid of it because I got the smaller 645 A* 300/4 and that is a bit more portable than the 67 bazooka.

I cannot argue with that switch. I have the FA* 300mm f 4.0, sister lens to your A/300, and this is really prime.

Absolutely stunning piece of work. So many steps to make this so superbly executed.

I haven't been to London, previously one of my favorite cities, for decades. It used to be so distinctive, nothing else like it. The images I see of it today make me want to stay away. I'd rather go to Seattle. I realize that one can't expect cities to stay in place, but it does seem to me like everything I loved about London before has been replaced by *generic late 20th early 21st century* building that could be anywhere. Writing this from Chengdu, China, which looks like the beginning of a 21st century city.

Another fascinating scene from the coastline. Note how seagulls stay warm in the winter. Perhaps warm yourself imagining the effort required to remove rooftop seagull donations in post processing.
