My FIL had a later model Mercury, actually a Canadian market '66 Meteor 2 dr. hardtop. Same car as the Merc, just different badging.
He had the 7 liter, 428 FE V8...345 hp. This was back in the 1960's, he used it to commute from the city to his grain farm...usually @ about 90 mph.

Nice shots. I had a '62 Volvo PV 544 with B18 engine. My father had a '69 Impala, same year as the Impala in your picture series. However my father's Impala had the 396 cube V8, known in North America as the 'Rat' motor.
