Nice Bonner04. Looks like Fuji has toned down their somewhat garish greens of a few decades ago, or maybe evergreens don't 'trigger' the emulsion.

Nice shot! did you use a ND or UV filter on the sky? or is that just straight glass, and a little Lightroom adjust?

Thanks! Just straight glass on that shot. I used an FA45-85mm @75mm to see how that focal length would look in case I want to get a prime, which I prefer. I don't think, however, that a 75mm prime would look much better. I do mostly landscapes and the f/2.8 aperture on the 75mm wouldn't matter much for that.

I did do some adjustments in LR and a few in Nik. I try and minimize that stuff and use low strength & opacity so the image doesn't get over-cooked. I like NIk but find it can produce a lot of noise.

Today is the 129th anniversary of the opening of the City & South London Railway - the world's first deep-level, tube railway. Most of that railway now forms part of the Northern Line on the London Underground system and still sees heavy use every day. This picture shows Clapham Common station, which opened when the line was extended in 1900 (two world wars ago!).

It is because of the age of the system that there are two still stations like this, where train runs either side of a narrow, island platform. It gets very crowded in busy times. There were other stations like this, but they have been rebuilt with separate, larger spaces for trains in each direction for reasons of safety and comfort. I wonder how much longer this one will survive in this form...

Hand-held shot, taken with 645Z and 28-45mm f4.5 lens @ 45mm using ISO 6400. It's a composite in order to position the two trains exactly where I wanted them.

Quite a few TTC stations are like this, the rest have separated side platforms. Rush hour overcrowding is a pretty serious issue in both cases.

Well, that's a neat trick, hand held composite.....impressive for that reason alone.

Thanks! It wasn't easy to remain rooted to the spot sufficiently to make it work (wasn't perfect, as I had to do some tweaking in the edit to correct for alignment anomalies) but it was close enough to allow that tweaking to take place. I nearly made an embarrassing blunder - I noticed that as a result of the compositing, the clocks on the two sides of the platform showed slightly different times. Nearly let that one slip through!

In other words, the platform lacks a Police Telephone Booth.
