Post your medium format photos!

I think you're right after looking at it again. I usually record some basic exposure with new gear but I didn't on this roll (too busy with the lens). And the problem of waiting this long to develop the film is I don't remember now. But I think it's also softer because of the wider aperture I used too.

So my HTTP client is complaining about some unofficial certificate where your images are hosted and doesn't display them. What's up with that?

Beats me. I paid real money to DSSL for my certificate, and it’s good for another nearly two years. But I had a lapsed certificate a couple of months ago for a couple of months. Maybe some leftover DNS in some intermediate router or something.

Seriously, will the browsers please stop being nannies?

I’ve never been able to look at Ed Hurst’s photos in Tapatalk without cutting and pasting.

Edit: Just checked. All works fine on IE (the pickiest) running on my work computer (a gubmint computer) through a government secure VPN.

FWIW I use Let's Encrypt free SSL certificate for a work server (I don't have a certificate on my own web site). It has to be renewed every 90 days. There's ways to automate the process, but (long story short) I do it manually, about a five-minute job.

In order to use it, you need admin access to the host pc, not just ftp, so probably not useful on shared hosting.

Rick, Rick Denney, my nanny warns me you're an untrusted person and therefore a bad man and I should think twice about visiting your site.

More 600mm trials.
Nice trial shots with this monster. It is definitely affected by the shutter, especially in the 1 second to 1/30 second range. The CA can be a problem in high contrast shots, especially between f/4 and f/11. There is a huge difference in color focus by lens zone (spherochromatism). This lens is actually pretty sharp once you tame it. I've had one for probably 25 years.

Thanks. If feels like using a telescope instead of a camera lens.

In late Fall at this picture location, condensation will form on things pretty fast once the sun sets. That's how humid the air can get. I'm sure warmer and less humid conditions would be better. A 600mm on my 67 is about equivalent to a 300mm on small format. Is that a focal length prone to a lot of atmospheric disturbance, I wonder.
Focal length determines how many pixels an atmospheric disturbance will cover; aperture (as a dimension, not an f/no) determines how much atmospheric disturbance averaging takes place.

Atmospherics in the form of haze, rain or pollution play a big part in long distance shooting. Not quite a 600/4 but one of my test shots with the 67 500/5.6 (which is big 'n heavy enough!) from my 645D is below. I make this about 440mm in FF terms, shot at f/11.

The tower blocks are 1.8KM from the camera, the wind farm is about 25KM away. Very rarely are the atmospherics this clear - only evident after I shot this image:

Update: Most days are much murkier, even when it's not raining (a rare occasion in Manchester, UK).

The first posted picture from the new to me Pentax 645Z. Haven't had a day off since it arrived, so I've been grabbing a few minutes with it when I can. This was taken on the way home from work. It was still lightly raining, so this was shot thru the open car window, hand held. Used the Pentax 6X7 165 f2.8 lens wide open with the FotoDiox adapter. High ISO, lowlight, handheld, open aperture, and hand held aren't the standard ways to use medium format. Oh well, I'm happy with this 1st attempt.

Thanks for looking,
barondla
