I FINALLY have gotten out for sunrise on 5 mornings. Two were good and three sucked, but that's about right, lol.

From yesterday morning...

Highway Star
645Z & DFA 35

Layers
645Z & FA150

Both images are from the exact same tripod position. I used every tool in my box to end up with two different looking photos of the same subject, lol.

Yeah, nice Mike.

For fun, a Halloween from a long time ago when you could get close to one another. The hard, off-center light is from a AF400T flash mounted with 67 adapter bracket and guide number exposure. I didn't get any halloween party pictures this year.

Sweet.
Today I took my Pentax 67 out for the first time shooting Provia 100F. I picked up an E-6 kit and we will soon see. On one hand I want to shoot a roll, develop it and see if my metering needs tweaking before continuing. But on the other, I want to shoot enough film to justify mixing the kit in case I don't do more soon.

Early Morning Hike

We went hiking in the Hong Kong mountains again yesterday morning. We couldn't get out of the valley quick enough to see the sunrise over the ocean from the top of the first mountain range. However we got some really nice views as the sun broke over the mountains and raised the fog in the valleys. Some scenes look as if it could have been in a fjord somewhere in Europe. Later the morning we got to enjoy some majestic close-ups of the high peaks. That high peak has my name on it and is calling.

I think the only way to do a sunrise or sunset shot from there is to camp and sleep over near the summit. It could be too dangerous to hike up or down in the dark.

First three pictures with 645z and FA 80-160mm and last picture with 645z and DFA 25mm.

thanks.
these are from Hawk Hill, Marin county looking north toward Rodeo Beach. On the blue shot, I purposely flipped the image for some variation, so it indeed looks like a scene from Big Sur.

You know I am only joking, don't you? ;-). Just admiration for wonderful pictures, as usual...

But yes, would love to! Looking forward to the day when that is possible again!

Some practice

T-Max 400

Dennis Ritchie died about a week after Steve Jobs on 12 October 2011. But no headline news for him, if I recall correctly. He was a computer scientist and I would say his contribution to the computer industry as a whole was very significant.

Excellent arrangement and tribute.
I took my first C class my freshman year in college in '87. It was this version, likely. For a few years in high school and beyond, i was a coding nerd and also studied Fortran, Pascal, Lisp, and others.
cheers!

Thanks. With so many high-level and powerful scripting languages today, C feels like assembly language did back when, lol.
