Late Fall brings long shadows and low sun on the horizon even at noon like in this scene. I mounted my 645Z on a tripod along with my little FA 33-55 mm f/4.5 zoom. Picture taken at 33 mm FL, 1/20 sec and f/22, 200 ISO (lots of 2's). Colors are nice, the dynamic range extraordinary. The result: a crazy-sharp image.

P.S. After posting this image on the Forum, I noticed it didn't look too impressive here but the high-resolution original is really nice on my 27" Mac.

You have to sharpen for web. I have it set up in lightroom to sharpen for screen on export. Also sometimes destination when resizing for web use will use compression which often affects images. I export at Facebook's default resolution 2048px on longest.

Superb image. Love this format! Had a Fuji 690 that took 8 exposures per 120 roll. Four is rough. Wow.
Thanks for sharing,

Thanks. Yeah, the number of rolls I go through per year has really increased since I started using this camera.

Battling a stormy sunrise

Crossing Sydney Harbour Heads around sunrise, one of the large Manly ferries battles across tempestuous waters.

Growing up in South Africa, cars were always an important part of life. If a friend bought a new car we would gather around and first open the hood (bonnet) and look at the engine. Everything else were secondary to that.

Seeing Ed's camera reminded me of that, and the words that came to my mind were: ah nice picture but let's first look at your camera. :-)

Thanks for sharing Ed. You are an inspiration...

Hi,

Cool shot showing the rig there. I ought to post one of mine. But, it's a cell phone shot. I didn't even use the Nikon Df as I didn't continue to haul it along for the NC Lighthouse project. And, even in the beginning when I did, for my own comparisons, I didn't think to use the Df to shoot the 645D on the tripod. Not until Ocracoke did I think to shoot what I was shooting with, and mainly to show off the fact that I actually managed to get there. I had a couple aborted attempts. The road on the Outer Banks tends to get covered with sand and water when the Atlantic gets riled up. So, I could drive the 3 hours out there only to find I am out of luck.

So, here is the cell phone shot:

And here is what I took with the 645D:

And when I sent the cell phone shot to one of my buddies, he asked what the tripod was for! He thought all my shots were being done with a cell phone all along!

And, BTW, adding a shot from the cell phone was quite a task v doing it from a computer. I don't know how in heck folks manage to do that all the time!

Stan

The Pentax A 35 mm's maximum aperture is f/3.5, not f/2.8.
