It's the "Underwood-Star" word processor. Popular at one time.
Hi,

When I was with IBM, we referred to computer word processors as Mark III. The Selectric typewriters were referred to as Mark II. And they had piles of wooden pencils in all the hardnesses around, which we referred to as Mark I.

And the Mark I were used a lot with a little flip style notebook with a hard cover with the word Think on it. The original ThinkPad, before they stuck that moniker onto notebook computers.

Interesting. The Mark 1 stuff sounds like camera talk. My first word processor on an IBM clone was Wordstar. Compared to that Underwood, it was like a dream come true to type a report on.

Another in my occasional series of shots depicting Sydney's wonderful ocean pools. They're scattered up and down the coastline and are considered part of "our" Sydney... Paid for and maintained out of public funds, they represent an integral part of the Sydney way of life.

Here's the one at North Curl Curl this morning.

Those are so cool. Are they filled by the tide, or pumping?
Thanks so much, guys!

I'm no expert, but I think they're filled by the tide. Each pool is periodically emptied though - for cleaning purposes - so there must be sluices or valves somewhere to make that possible. The schedule is published on the Council websites though, so it's possible to know when it's going to happen. They really are an integral part of life here. However early I am out for photography, there's always some old dude swimming in the pools in the dark. Aussie are hard core!

Went on a short hike this morning to get sunrise pictures, the clouds looked as of they had gone on vacation and we had clear skies, or so it looked a few hours before sunrise.

A large part of Hong Kong is in a geo park area with 140m year old weathered volcanic rock formations and the eastern parts of Hong Kong's islands are on the perimeter of the original crater.

Humidity was high just before sunrise which caused some low lying fog which became denser looking towards the horizon. This foggy layer obscured the sunrise over the ocean. But it did create a beautiful diffused light in changing colors as the sunrise unfolded.

I'll post some more pictures of the rock formations when I'm back at my computer, too cumbersome with my phone.

Catenary vs. circle vs. straight lines. Geometry in art. Nice.

Great stuff, Theuns. Looking forward to seeing more of them... :-)

I dialed in "ISO 1600" for the first time ever : still a very good picture ...

Trying my old P67 100 mm f/4 MACRO on the 645Z, the light level was decreasing rapidly, so I used ISO 1600 for the first time in my life. The image remains very good. Exposure : 1/200 sec @ f/8, ISO 1600.
