More appalling than surprising.
We have/had Border Collies to serve a function as companions and guardians.
They are not suitable for everyone due to high intelligence and a need for purpose.

But they are still popular because of looks and other things. So theyre expensive.
And people who wish to profit (puppy mills) try to pick up any and all "adoptable" ones they can find.

Because of this Adoption agencies have panicked and made it almost impossible to adopt a Border Collie.
Which of course is dumb. Whatever.

Nice for an old Texan like me, and most appropriately named.

You're not alone. Whilst it's a minority viewpoint, it's a significant minority nevertheless.

Whilst I respect that people like them, a significant number of people feel very uneasy around them and do not like dogs at all.

I'll even cross the road to the other side if I see someone walking one, lead or no lead. Dogs, if not properly controlled, trained and supervised can do a person serious harm and even kill them.

A lot like to have a pet - personally I wouldn't want a pet - I prefer fellow humans for companionship and never quite understood those who prefer the company of a dog to a person - but we are all different.

We seem to have unearthed a significant albeit minority current of anti-canine feeling. Some my dog-loving friends have stated the opposite view from the one you have expressed--they like dogs better than people. I have to confess that there are at least a small minority of folks whose companionship I would willingly forgo in favor of dogs, friendly and well-trained ones at least.

I took my "new" 105 on a short shakedown hike this morning to run a roll of film through it - and I had 30 minutes at lunchtime to run the film. I'd purchased a different copy of this lens and once it arrived i noticed it had received a pretty good knock on the front deforming the filter ring to the point of it being unusable. I shot a roll with that lens prior to returning it as it was clearly not in Mint Like New condition and wasn't overwhelmed by the results.

This new copy that i have now has no such issues. I can see that there's something special about these lenses. I think the first one i had had been knocked out of alignment as the images were not nearly as crisp as what i see on this roll i shot this morning.

What's your feelings on the GF100-200 - how is it IQ wise.

The 100 - 200 is a sharp lens with good contrast. It's comparatively slow at f/5.6 but for landscapes that's not an issue at all. It's not a light lens, but not that expensive - around £1800. Which ok is a decent wedge of money but not terrible for medium format.

White irises

These white irises are the first irises to blossom each spring. The Pentax-FA 645 150m f 3.5 is a nice lens for closeup garden photos because of its surprisingly short MFD for a lenses of this focal length.

Beautiful blooms. The exposure captures the white blooms perfectly. Interesting that the 150 focuses so close. Most medium format lenses are lacking in this area. I often use an extension tube to get closer.

Thanks for sharing,
