Bit of a project this one! Sydney by night.

Some of you may remember an image like this being posted by me last year. It was already a composite because the road in this scene isn't clear like this - there are overhead gantry signs etc. in the way - so I took the image and added a road / traffic trail scene taken elsewhere in Sydney. But, being me, I felt it would look better with proper star trails above the city skyline. So, back I went recently to shoot that scene. So what we have here is a composite of 1) the wide city scene 2) the road and traffic trails 3) the buildings/skyline/star trails put together. I find it pleasing but would never hold this up as one of my more naturalistic images :-)

Great image. Just for once it's a pity it is a driving on the left country. I always find it more satisfying seeing more red tail lights than white headlights for some reason

So a Photoshop expert could flip the image right to left, then flip the road signs back and voila, driving on the right, as is only right.

You might not say that if you've ever tried changing gear with your right hand. Feels utterly alien every time you drive a foreign car where they drive on the right

Shortly after sunrise in Badlands National Park (South Dakota) on Saturday morning. I shot the actual sunrise with my K-3 iii and then when I turned around I saw this and grabbed my 645D since it had my 645 FA 80–160mm on it already (as opposed to the DA* 11–18mm that was on the K-3 iii and would have been hopeless here.)

Thanks guys! I can't flip the image because, being Sydney, the traffic has to be driving on the left hand (i.e. the correct) side of the road. But what I can do is shoot another road scene, standing over the left side of a road so that the tail lights are more prominent than the head lights, then composite that in place of this scene. Will probably work!

I've raced plenty of RHD.For a native LHD driver, stick on the Left can be weird. No Issue, really. Most of the time, the pedals remain the same. Now, I've been in really vintage cars where that did not hold true. Think: Model T Ford. But, that is not the only one by a long shot.

On a road course, I prefer RHD, On an oval, I prefer LHD. Because I sit on the inside of most of the curves on a road course and all of the turns on an oval.

And, my favorite are Formula cars because I'm right in the center. Is that a No Hand Drive?

Yesterday I struggled with my 645Z and FA 120 mm f/4 MACRO to shoot these daisy heads. Heavy camera, limited depth-of-field, questionable success, a lot of sweat, backache and cursing, almost for nothing ...



This morning, I went out with the K3 + DA 18-135 mm ED WR zoom, let the AF do its job, shot handheld without any drama and got this picture without a sweat !!!



Proof that the camera has to be adapted to the task ... I know the surface area of the APS-C sensor is only between 1/3 and 1/4 that of the medium-format sensor and that the second image couldn't be enlarged as much but the result remains remarkable and, oh so easy to achieve.

The APS-C picture shows a little color-fringing at the border between the white petals and the dark background. Apart from this little weakness, the second picture seems more life-like.
